An Inspired Chat with Raffael Arlief

Raffael Arlief shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Raffael, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Yesterday, when i felt very productive all day

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Raffael Arlief, an emerging artist based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

I do paint, I make what I feel. I do what I like to do.

What makes me great is probably because I have so much empathy hahaha sometimes it bothers me, but that’s fine, being kind is not that easy actually.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I’m just being me at all times, man, what the F? I kinda don’t really care about what the world says.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
When I realized that I had so much pain in my life, thankfully I’m a visual artist so I can use it as my power.
I changed the pain become painting, it’s like I never waste anything that happened in my freaking life. Hahahaha

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Sure! I try my best to do that hahahaha

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes! Because I do my best for myself I prised myself long before the world did — so if no one prised what I do, I don’t care man!
