We recently had the chance to connect with Kristi Moon and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristi, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to start my day with meditation — even if it’s only five minutes when I first wake up. It helps me center myself before the day begins. After that, I listen to affirmations and speak a few of my own to set the tone. I usually follow that with music that pumps me up or an audiobook on spirituality, self-help, or psychology to get my mind and energy in the right place. It’s my way of grounding, aligning, and choosing peace before I connect with this crazy: beautiful world, we’ve created…
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kristi Moon, Founder and Designer of Age of Aquarius (AOA), a jewelry and apparel brand rooted in sustainability, intention, and spirituality.
I create inspirational jewelry featuring crystals, gemstones, and zodiac designs that are more than accessories, that are made to inspire, promote healing, and empower individuality.
Each collection is crafted with care, using materials sourced from U.S. based small businesses and other sustainable suppliers.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself was with my Granny, my mom’s mother. She was like a second mom to me — the one who truly saw me, accepted me, and never tried to stifle my creativity or high energy. She nurtured my spirit, exposed me to the finer things in life, and always encouraged my individuality.
Granny was born in the 1920s and carried herself with elegance and grace. She was a faith-filled woman who adored being feminine, she loved soft pastels, wearing pink or peach nail polish, and her signature scent was Chanel No. 5. Gentle and stylish, yet strong and mighty beneath that softness, she taught me that true strength can live inside grace.
When she passed in 1998, it changed everything for me. Her transition was painful, but it also marked the beginning of my spiritual journey. I know she’s still guiding me. I keep her photo on my nightstand and her last bottle of Chanel No. 5 from her dresser as a reminder of her love, resilience, and timeless energy. Granny’s presence continues to inspire how I live, create, and carry myself — with grace, strength, and heart.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self to trust the process, have faith, and stop trying to control every outcome. Life has a beautiful way of unfolding when you surrender and believe that everything is working out for your highest good.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I believe it’s essential to live in a way that’s sustainable and environmentally conscious — to make intentional choices that reduce my carbon footprint and honor the planet we all share. I began my mission to build a sustainable fashion brand over 15 years ago, at a time when the idea of eco-friendly fashion wasn’t widely understood or taken seriously. Back then, I was often told sustainability was just a fad — which is clearly not the case.
For me, sustainability has never been a trend; it’s a responsibility. Whether it’s sourcing materials from U.S.-based small businesses, reusing packaging, or creating timeless designs meant to last, I try to reflect that commitment in both my lifestyle and my brand..
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who was kind, loving, creative, and fun to be around — someone who inspired others to live with purpose and authenticity. I hope they remember me as a person of integrity who made others feel seen, welcomed, and valued. More than anything, I want my life and my work to remind people that healing and joy can coexist, and that it’s never too late to become the fullest expression of who you truly are.
