Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Zapata
Hi Amy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always loved baking and coffee and I thought that as an artist I had to always keep everything separate, but what I realize is that all of my passions inform one another and make me who I am. Puebla, Mexico is also a big part of my journey. I consider it my other home, and I want to share my photos, videos, coffees and food inspired goodies that celebrate my Mexican culture.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road is tough and I think one of the biggest hurdles is the lack of capital. But community is incredibly important and I feel that my Queer Latino community are huge supporters, and they help support by purchasing items, visiting pop up events and sharing my posts. I am currently saving for a coffee cart because coffee is one of my passions and I cannot wait to share the coffee that I bring from Puebla.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer/curator/artist/baker. I love sharing and that takes on many forms. I want to share all of the beauty that is Puebla Mexico, I want to express my passion for bettering my neighborhoods that have food deserts. I think that art and being an artist means to be a storyteller, and that has always been my primary passion.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My current favorite book is Alex and Izzy Save the World, I am big drag race fan and love all the MOM podcasts.
