Life & Work with Cynthia Garcia Sanchez of Los Angeles, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Garcia Sanchez

Hi Cynthia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was always a creative kid. Art was my favorite subject in school but it was not until senior year of high school where the pressure of what do you want to do in life kicked in. I had three years of drawing under my belt, took fashion merchandising courses my last semester of high school and naturally- I sought a creative field in the arts.

I enrolled into college taking fashion and design courses. My first internship while in college was in Jewelry. I did not know it then but my heartstrings were pulled. I was hired on by the designer upon completion of the internship and genuinely enjoyed the day to day. The next decade or so I spent refining my skills and knowledge in the jewelry industry as I did not pursue a formal education in that field. My eagerness to learn from master jewelers taught me everything I now know and it is truly invaluable.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a first generation eldest daughter, I have undergone and still undergo a laundry list of struggles. The biggest struggle has been navigating owning a business and all its legalities.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Latina-Owned Fine Jewelry Designer based in Los Angeles, CA. My company Maria Consuelo Designs is for discerning women who treasure their culture. All of our designs are made in solid 14K gold.

What sets our company apart from others is our desire to keep culture alive in a form that is forever. We are proud of creating designs with intent that will last our clients a lifetime.

Any big plans?
I would love to meet our clients and community in person! A private showroom, perhaps!
