Today we’d like to introduce you to Suri Kaweri
Hi Suri, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2023 I decided to change my relationship with work. I felt as though life until then had been living to work, rather than working to live. I wanted to create art from a place of play, and started exploring different mediums. I also started following online DJing tutorials after a period of working out while listening to DJ mixes. I had felt as though my learning progression was too slow trying to piece online tutorials together, so I got connected to an amazing individual who had been DJing for decades at Academy of DJs. I was lucky to then get accepted into season 15 of Academy of DJs, the in person acceptance based DJ school in Santa Ana. From there I have had many opportunities to DJ across Southern California, as well as collaborate with many talented artists and host music events. More recently I have been learning to produce my own music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
DJing can be as involved as you’d like it to be. You can spend an hour after work following online tutorials, or you can spend a couple hours livestreaming and growing an audience. You can be a bedroom DJ, or you can try to produce your own events, or network and play at venues. Personally, socializing or networking after the pandemic has been been anxiety inducing. Connecting with others while staying authentic is a priority for me. I’d rather not be liked than to lose a part of myself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a DJ and artist. I focus on euphoric sounding music, which spans anywhere from indie to heavy bass genres. I am known for floaty and twinkly sounding music, infused with heavy bass. I am proud of all of my live DJ performances, notably my Academy of DJs graduation set, which took months to create.
What sets me apart is my sound. I love being able to spin more ambient leaning sets, as well as harder hitting bass while maintaining an airy, sparkly, and colorful sound.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am grateful for the ability to connect with other artists through social media. For business I have my email, [email protected]
I am also grateful for those who take the time to support what I share both online and in person.
