Conversations with Valeria Gutiérrez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valeria Gutiérrez

Hi Valeria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Valeria. I was born in Florida and grew up in Costa Rica with two Colombian parents. I have always been a passionate girl especially when it comes to fashion. When I was 8 years old I had my first bow business at my dance studio, bows that I made from scrap foam we had in the house and ribbon. As I grew up I realized that I was always more and more captivated by the fashion scene and at seventeen years old I moved to Miami to pursue Fashion Design, after some rollercoasters of emotions and realizing maybe I left my house to young I decided to move back home. Regardless I knew my passion for creating grew when I was surrounded by the city which is why six months later I moved to Los Angeles. I remember when I was little I was so drawn to watching YouTubers and influencers posts about fashion and after being very sick for three months in 2024 I finally began documenting mine as well after realizing I had one life to live my dreams. I also transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise to study fashion business and now my heart and creativity belong in fashion marketing, creating content, styling and teaching other’s how to create their dream life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, when I got sick I felt extremely weak, having to work three marketing jobs, create content, study for finals and heal all at the same time was terrible. I would run from class to the office to the hospital all in one day. My content was scattered all over the place and I didn’t know what my motif or motivation in life was. I am very open about my mental health and to be quite honest I had never reached that level of anxiety before, I felt burn out, not like myself and completely lost.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work in marketing but I am also a social media content creator, I specialize in styling, fashion and creating your dream life; time management, goal orientation and finding your path; all with the intention of being your best self. I am known for being a latina in Los Angeles who is always on the go and stylish. A lot of my friends compare me to Carrie Bradshaw stating how I fashionably take over the city with my fashion and life advice. I’m also known for knowing how to have fun and yet keep it business, during the week you will find my cruising throughout DTLA, taking photos, filming videos and posing to a camera or at school/my office. During the weekends, my friends know I will bring the latina essence to any plan we go to and know all the latest it places in LA.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something not a lot of people know about me is that I wasn’t always a confident and happy go lucky person. When I started filming my videos it was my way to cope with stress and anxiety, especially from those who did not support my goals. I always tell those around that we don’t need to prove anything to anyone else except ourselves to truly be the person we aspire to be. Reality check; I had to learn the hard way. When you share your knowledge sometimes the viewers don’t realize you had to go through some rough times to learn what you now know. In my case, I was extremely insecure growing up and never felt comfortable in myself until I learnt how to love me, my body, brain, ideas and even mistakes.
