Exploring Life & Business with Ojen Masrour of Healthy Transformation MD

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ojen Masrour

Hi Ojen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in 1971 in Tehran, Iran. At the age of seven, I immigrated to the United States as a political refugee. My mother was the political secretary of the Minister of Energy for the Shah of Iran. My father was in the textile and manufacturing business. With the onset of the Islamic revolution, we fled for our lives to the United States.

We had to overcome great adversity in the first several years of our lives here. There was a lot of anti-Iranian sentiment. I was often bullied and discriminated against by fellow students and other people while in school.

I struggled through junior high and high school and was often left to fend for myself. My parents did their best to support an extended family of 10 people and other family members who used our home as their own. They were not able to help me anyway, as they were struggling to make ends meet.

After High School, I attended California State University, Northridge for my undergraduate studies.

After my first year of university, I realized that I loved theater and acting. I attained an agent and started taking acting classes in college. I thought I was going to be a movie star.

After a heartfelt discussion with one of my mentors, being a known actress herself and professor at the University, I realized that this profession potentially could be a lifelong struggle. At the time, struggling was not an option.

I made a dramatic turn and diverted my attention from theater to biology and pre-Medical studies. After all, that’s what all Persians were supposed to do.

A friend of mine, who graduated from the Autonomous university in Guadalajara Mexico, which was made for United States citizens told me that this might be an option for me. Tuition was much cheaper and very affordable.

We entered with a class of 450 students and finished with a graduating class of less than 100.

I experienced more hands-on training by wonderful physicians in my first few years of school than some residents will ever experience in the first year here in the United States.

Eventually, I completed a one-year internship at the New York Medical College before finishing my residence in Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin.

After completion of my residency, I took on random jobs working in emergency rooms, urgent cares, and private offices here in the valley.

Ultimately, I settled down in West Hills near the West Hills Medical Center complex where I practice now. I was super excited to finally practice medicine in a private clinical setting.

I soon realized that the majority of my practice was internal medicine and that the hundreds of hours of training in obstetrics and pediatrics would not be very useful, at least in this particular location.

As I was managing the health of a vast majority of my patients, it dawned on me that I was not curing them of their ailments. I was simply managing their conditions. I thought there must be a way to heal my patients naturally and manage them medically when necessary.

I started to pursue alternative routes of medicine. I attended dozens of alternative and alternative style medical courses and teaching venues on my own. I discovered that my style of practice was a hybrid between the western and naturopathic styles of medicine.

It became apparent that there’s more to being a doctor than prescribing medication.

I surrounded myself with acupuncturists, nutritionists, and registered nurses who were administering IV nutritional therapies and more. I was amongst the very few medical doctors years ago who realized the powerful healing effects of non-pharma modalities. I started helping patients with Parkinson’s, Dementia, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and many other immune deficiencies.

It was clear that an ounce of prevention was worth its weight in gold. Since then, I have been studying and focusing on the gastrointestinal system, the micro biome, the role of peptide therapy and its role in the anti-aging world.

In addition, we are proud to present Peptide and IV Cellular therapy. Peptides and Cell therapy are used to help treat everything and anything from pain and autoimmune disease to general wellness and longevity. While some of these remarkable treatment modalities can be found in various non-medical offices. Optimal health can be better achieved when under the care of one physician, in one office.

Recently, I was blessed and inspired to be mentored by a terrific naturopath to study the art of Iridology. This technique is rarely utilized and is best described as a map to look at past, present, and potential future ailments that can either be corrected or prevented. The eyes are truly the gateway to the soul.

We have a rather large Men’s Health following that has organically grown throughout the years. We offer BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy) via intramuscular injections and other Bioidentical forms of treatment. Apart from providing this invaluable anti-aging, youth enhancing modality, we also employ a variety of the popular weight loss injections in a safe and mindful manner.

After practicing medicine for almost 20 years, I have finally realized why I chose this specific medical specialty. I had opportunities to study other specialties like surgery or psychiatry, but somehow those did not seem right for me.

I see now that I can create relationships and have the most impact with people by being in primary care.

I was put here to bring forward a hidden and beautiful dance between natural and western medicine to which all people deserve to have access.

“The laws of nature tell us what we legitimately need.”

-Michel Eyquem de Montaigne

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t know of anyone’s life that has been smooth. However, one’s mindset will determine one’s success! I have always envisioned what I wanted, taken action and made things happen.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My residency was in family medicine. I emphasized my studies in hospital and adult medicine.
I have practiced adult medicine/internal medicine for all of my post graduate career.
Healthy transformation MD was created in the spirit of transforming people in a nontraditional, alternative matter where we help the body reach homeostasis.

This was the beginning of my journey of being a student and practitioner of the alternative and anti-aging world of medicine.
I am now able to integrate traditional western practices with an emphasis on non-pharmaceutical therapies for a longer life free from medication and doctor visits.
As mentioned before, I utilize the optimization of the Gut Microbiome, Doctor supervised weight loss, use of Peptide Therapy, BHRT, and cellular therapy to create the most favorable long term outcomes.
Healthy transformation MD is a product of this vision.
I am proud of the hundreds and hundreds of people we have helped reinvent and transform themselves with this Philosophy that we practice daily in our office.

How do you think about luck?
I do not believe in luck. I believe in personal responsibility, organization, action, and hard work. What I do feel lucky about is having the opportunity to live and work in this beautiful country that has afforded me everything that I have today.
