Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Lang
Hi Chloe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a small town in Connecticut on the shore, and from a very young age loved all things creative: from drawing and painting, to dancing, singing and playing instruments, to photography, to acting and performing. I am lucky enough to have grown up in a very loving and supportive household, where my interests and passions were nurtured. By the age of 10, I was commuting to NYC to audition regularly, and booked my first lead role as Stephanie in the children’s international TV show “LazyTown”. My entire life changed in a matter of weeks, when I moved to Iceland to film the show for two years. My mom came with me, and I had to say goodbye to my family and friends for the time being, but it was ultimately one of the best experiences of my life, which is a story in and of itself! At 15, I attended a visual arts high school while also being a competitive dancer, aspiring actress, and a full time student in public school. After graduating from 2 high schools, I attended Pace University in Manhattan, where I graduated in 2023 with High Honors and a BBA in Arts and Entertainment Management. While continuing to act, train, and audition on the side, I was determined to earn a business degree and was able to explore different career options, learn more about the industry I love, while simultaneously becoming an adult and learning a lot about myself in the process. Today, I am a full-time actress, model, and content creator living in New York City going on my sixth year, and couldn’t be more content.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As mentioned before, I do consider myself lucky for the opportunities I have had in my life along with the unwavering support from my closest family and friends, but that doesn’t mean it was always an easy road. One of the hardest parts about this career and this industry is the sacrifice that comes with it. Because work is not always guaranteed, I’ve dealt with more rejection than bookings (which is normal, but took time to learn how to handle) and have struggled with managing my time and schedule due to the constant flexibility required when regularly auditioning while trying to maintain other sources of work, and simultaneously wanting to keep up with acting training and networking.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I think acting is a mix of art and creativity, emotional intelligence and willingness to be vulnerable with yourself and others, and most importantly professionalism. I began working professionally at the age of 10 years old: showing up to work on time and ready, being a good listener, taking direction well, and being able to focus / work hard while having fun and being personable, is what has helped me go far in my career from such a young age. Now at 22, I have learned so much along the way and continue to learn new things about this industry everyday. I am dedicated to working on my craft, and still get those child-like butterflies every time I get that “you’re booked!” email! Another big aspect of my career is the online presence I maintain. Even as a young girl, I was obsessed with dressing up, taking “artsy” photos with my big sister, and uploading fun moments of my life online. After LazyTown, I grew a following and had this little community of friends I found so fun. By the time Covid hit in 2020, I began taking my content more seriously and started posting on more of a schedule, creating higher quality content, and began making video content as well. I started making YouTube vlogs and TikTok’s, and was able to watch my platforms grow with more and more friends! Today, I manage my own social media and handle any brand deals, collaborations, and sponsored content.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think aspiring to become an actress has always been considered as risky due to its lack of stability and assurance, but I think thats what makes believing in yourself enough to take that leap of faith so worth it. By textbook definition I’m definitely not a risk taker because I like to follow the rules, play by the book, and be cautious and thoughtful with everything I do, but in regards to risk taking in this context, every day that I choose to practice my craft and be patient with my booking timeline, is a risk I’m taking by not investing my time, energy, and money into something with a more promised or stable reward. I love the art of acting, the people I have met and had the pleasure of working with, and the people that inspire me and I could only dream to work with one day. I feel blessed to have the ability and security of choosing to take that risk for the sake of passion.
