Today we’d like to introduce you to Lu Diodovich
Hi Lu, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Argentina and I moved to the USA a little over 20 years ago.
In Argentina, I was a TV and Radio producer and when I got here I started to work in restaurants and there I found my love for wine.
In my career in wine I got to use a lot of the things I learned being a producer. Once a year, I organize an Argentine Wine and Food Fair and that’s where my production skills come in handy.
I just opened an online wine shop with wines from all over the world called Eight Wine Eight and I am studying for the 4th exam of the prestigious WSET Diploma.
Although I love all kind of wines and from all over the world, my passion is always on Argentinean wines. I feel the responsibility to communicate the amazing wines and wine industry that Argentina has.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been living in the USA for over 20 years now and for sure it wasn’t a smooth road. Being away from your family, in a country with different language and culture wasn’t easy in the beginning. But this is the country of opportunities and I’ll be always thankful that I get to call it now my home.
For sure, these last 22 years have been a learning process.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Eight Wine Eight is an online wine shop based in Encino, California.
All the wines we have have been curated by me.
We have wines from all over the world and (of course) many from Argentina.
I love to create a nice relationship with my clients and give them all the information I can about the wine world.
Also, in Wine with Lu, an instagram account that was born right before the pandemic, I love to provide wine education and invite my clients to educational tastings. I believe that the more you educate your clients about wine, the more they enjoy it.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love L.A. I wasn’t born here but I consider myself an LA girl for sure.
I love the blue skies, the driving to the beach, the amazing restaurants and the different cultures that live together in this city.
I am not a fan of the traffic of course, but every city has its cons.
