Conversations with Thibault (T-bo) et Gulielmo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thibault (T-bo) et Gulielmo

Hi Thibault (T-bo) et , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in France. I have always been attracted to tattooing since I was young. Biker and tattoo magazines represented for me, in my suburbs, the American dream.
I started tattooing by chance 25 years ago, before the internet and Amazon, by a friend who had a dermograph (tattoo machine) and I was able to “have fun” tattooing my friends and loved ones. . . And then little by little it became more and more serious and I started to really hang out in tattoo shops in order to immerse myself and glean some information and technique because at the time it was not easy to find apprenticeship if you didn’t know anyone.
In short, after several years of tattooing and perfecting my skills, I decided to open my own shop in the Parisian suburbs, a shop which quickly became successful and which I kept and developed for ten years!

Until the day my wife and I decided to leave everything and go on an adventure and try the American dream!
We have been here for 5 years now, I quickly found a shop to work in, the very famous “Body Electric” on Melrose ave. owned by the no less famous Brian K. Thompson who welcomed me like a member of his family, I owe him a lot today and it is thanks to him that my American adventure was able to get off to the best possible start! !
Unfortunately, Covid happened after a few good years spent at Body Electric. I had to find somewhere to rebalance the balance, which is why I moved closer to my home, leaving Los Angeles to set up at “The Tattoo Room” owned by the very adorable and famous Danielle Oberosler in Simi Valley!
Today I continue to flourish and progress with a very wide range of clients and requests that are all different from each other. . .
We sometimes miss Paris and France but we really like it here in California and I hope we can continue like this for a long time!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have never encountered any real difficulties, other than having to make choices.
1st: Leave a secure and well-paid job to open a tattoo shop without any certainties!
2nd: leave everything and go to the other side of the world to start all over again!
The biggest difficulty here would be the people who tell you that it won’t work!
Other than that I’ve been lucky that everything has gone well so far.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a tattoo artist, which means being a creator or adapter of artistic ideas specializing in dermo-pigmentation.
Basically I adapt my clients’ ideas/desires into drawings in order to be able to transfer them using suitable devices into the skin.

I am appreciated in my field for the attention I give to my work and to my clients, whether it is for a full back or a small minimalist tattoo, everyone has the right to the same attention. . . And I also hope for the quality of my tattoos.

I am proud to have been able, by coming out of not much and being self-made (with the support of my loved ones anyway) to be able to provide, 25 years later, for a family of 7 despite the distance and the difficulties that the distance that we imposed on ourselves with my wife and our children can represent by coming here to the United States.

I think what sets me apart from others is my versatility, I am able to satisfy “almost” all requests (apart from very specific things like ultra-realism etc.) and my speed of execution while maintaining certain quality.

How do you think about happiness?
My family, my wife and my children who I see growing so well day after day!
To still be able today to live from my passion and to enjoy the great freedom that it brings me.
The company and support of my friends and loved ones!
Being happy, well surrounded and in good health, after that all the rest is bonus.
