Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Ariel
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I picked up the guitar over a decade ago, and haven’t looked back since. My name is Taylor Ariel, I compose and produce my own music in STARSE3D. Everything I’ve been doing for the last 10 years is self taught. Some of my many projects include numerous product campaigns/ endorsements, session work (vocals, guitars, production) with musicians and clients from all over the world, performing live with many bands, a feature on Dolly Parton’s Netflix series “Heartstrings” / NBC News with my cover of “Jolene,” radio play on Sonoma FM, and going viral on social media with the music I compose and produce in STARSE3D.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Being a musician, especially in today’s industry, is really hard. Not only do you have to worry about improving your craft, you also have to worry about the business side of things, such as marketing your music on social media and promoting every single thing you put out, as well as how to make a living off of what you do. I feel like the industry has become harder than ever for independent artists, because record labels are no longer discovering talent, and you have to do everything yourself, especially if you don’t have a band, like myself. My “band” STARSE3D has been a solo project from day one, but I’m hoping to change that.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist, and I’m most known for my music in STARSE3D. I’m a singer, songwriter and guitarist, but I’m also a multi instrumentalist and producer. I’m most proud of the fact that I composed and produced over 3 albums worth of material all on my own, and of the nice fan base I’ve cultivated through the years writing and sharing my music. I’m also excited to begin bringing my originals to the stage more often. What sets me apart from others is that I am very unique, and my fans can attest to this. My music cannot be put in a box. My style is rock, though I also incorporate elements of different styles within my sound, including alternative and metal. I’m a 90s/ early 2000s soul, and you can definitely hear that come through in my songs. Some of my accomplishments include performing my originals live, getting featured on Dolly Parton’s Netflix series “Heartstrings” / NBC News with my cover of “Jolene,” radio play on Sonoma FM, and of course going viral on social media.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is that the music industry is not easy. There’s no clear cut path. Acknowledging this and realizing that the most important thing is to do music because you love it, and you can’t see yourself doing anything else. Passion is key.
