Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Feise
Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I had the idea for Two of a Kind years ago when I was living in New York. After having an amazing brow artist in Arizona, I struggled to find a studio I loved when I moved to SF and NYC. All I found were low-end, cookie-cutter options or expensive celebrity brow artists. Neither felt like it was for me, and I started thinking… why isn’t there a cool, trustworthy place to get your brows done?
Fast-forward a few years later, and Two of a Kind was born. Think of us as the Drybar for eyebrows. Right now, we have a concept location in Venice and plan to have three brow studios across LA by the end of next year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is rarely a smooth road. Amazing and not-so-amazing moments happen every day. In fact, our first-ever pop-up almost didn’t happen.
When we started out, we did pop-ups all over LA. It was incredible to partner with local businesses (shout out to Little Lunch, Platefit, and Amber Interiors), but it was very logistically intensive. We bought and branded a sprinter van to drive everything around from pop-up to pop-up. But the night before our very first pop-up, the van got towed… with all of our supplies and set up inside. Talk about a moment of panic.
Thankfully, after hours at the tow yard, we were able to get the van back just in time for our first pop-up! Little did most people know, it almost got canceled after months of hard work.
But I think it’s all about your frame of mind. If you expect things to go wrong (which they will), you’re not as surprised when it happens. You have to know the road ahead will be a little bumpy and be very okay with that.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Two of a Kind is building the future of brow care. We specialize in brow waxing + tinting + lamination and intentionally have a small menu because we are obsessed with being the best at what we do. You can find us at our first brow studio in Venice, right between Abbot Kinney and the beach.
From a brand perspective, we are the anti-pink brand. We know you don’t have to be hyper-feminine and say “brow babe” to appeal to women. We built a brand that looks very different from other options on the market. Our name, Two of a Kind, is also a play on the saying, “brows should be sisters, not twins”.
But Two of a Kind is a place where you can expect personalized services, an elevated vibe, and reasonable prices. At the end of the day, our goal is to make proper brow care more accessible, because brows shape your entire face. Having nice brows can be a major confidence booster – and how you look impacts how you feel (and visa versa). That’s why we’re obsessed with giving people the best brows of their life.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The brow industry will continue to grow. It’s growing 3X faster than beauty, which already has an impressive growth rate. Because of this, I think we will see a lot more trends come and go as brows become a place for self-expression. More and more people will see brows as essential grooming, regardless of how they choose to style them.
My biggest prediction is that more men will also start getting their brows done and view it just like getting their hair cut. Men need proper brow care too, but they have historically had to step into spaces that were not designed with them in mind. I really just think everyone – men and women alike – could stand to benefit from proper brow care.
