Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a Southern California native, born and raised in Walnut. CA. In my teens, I rode and competed in Motorcross events. I think it was during this time in my life that I learned that hard work and dedication pay off. In my 20s I moved to Dallas, TX, and started working in Landscaping for 2 years. In that time I quickly moved up to manager within the first year. I decided Dallas wasn’t where I wanted to be, so I moved back to California and found a place in Los Angeles. During my early years in LA, I studied DJ music production at a school in Hollywood.

Before being an AV tech and starting my own Pro Audio Visual company, I was a DJ and always had a knack for providing awesome sound and event experiences, going beyond just being a DJ. This cultivated a passion for creating incredible event experiences with flawless sound. I found this natural talent translated perfectly when I transitioned into the world of AV in 2004.

Starting as a freelance AV technician, I honed my skills while working with various local companies. However, my vision extended beyond existing limitations. I craved the freedom to deliver the exceptional service I envisioned for corporate events, meetings, and conferences.

Fueled by this desire, Ace January Productions, LLC (AJP) was born in 2009. For me, from the very beginning, AJP’s mission has been crystal clear: providing top-tier, reliable AV technology and services throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and No. It’s been a relatively smooth road, but I have had to navigate some hurdles along the way.

The past few years have brought both challenges and exciting opportunities. While the pandemic put a pause on in-person events, it also fueled demand for innovative AV solutions in the virtual and hybrid space. We successfully adapted and expanded our services to meet this growing need.

Finding the right balance between value and client budgets is an ongoing process. We strive to offer competitive rates while maintaining the high-quality service our clients expect. We work collaboratively to find solutions that fit within their budget constraints.

Building a strong client base is crucial. By staying true to our core brand values, we’ve earned positive reviews and fostered valuable word-of-mouth recommendations. Additionally, when seeking AV Techs, it’s hard to find people who share our commitment to excellence and want to put in the work.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I was working with Southern California Edison when I decided to start my own company. Based on my work ethic and skill set, people in the company suggested that I create my own Audio Visual company. I had already been thinking about branching out and starting my own company, but this definitely gave me the extra nudge I needed. Also, my girlfriend Rachael has been a big supporter over the past few years. Helping me in all aspects of the company and being our number one AJP cheerleader.
