Rising Stars: Meet Rodrigo Siamarella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodrigo Siamarella. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Rodrigo Siamarella

Rodrigo Siamarella, a renowned Argentine singer-songwriter from the new generation of folk musicians, stands out for his commitment to roots music and a profound message aimed at connecting with life. Born in San Martín, Buenos Aires, his artistic journey led him to grow up in Purmamarca, Jujuy, where he found inspiration for his compositions.

His journey into music began at the age of 11, but it was during a long bicycle trip to Ecuador in 2011 that he received a guitar and discovered his true passion. Encouraged by the advice to fully dedicate himself to music, he immersed himself in the folk scene, both in Argentina and on international tours in France and Spain.

After being part of the duo “Caminantes del Cielo,” Rodrigo continued his career as a solo artist, releasing two albums, “De la mano” and “Resuena,” which encompass various folk genres. With notable collaborations, such as with Bruno Arias and Peteco Carabajal, his music has resonated in peñas and stages across Argentina and beyond.

Currently, he is recording his third album in Los Angeles, United States, titled “Treinta y tres,” in honor of a number he considers a good omen. Simultaneously, he is working on a documentary about Purmamarca, delving into the cultural roots that inspired him.

At 35 years old, Rodrigo remains passionate about music and hopes that his work will inspire more people to connect deeply with it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the most challenging aspects has been maintaining authenticity, simplicity, and being present while creating and sharing music. Resisting the pressures of conforming to the trends promoted by social media has led me to truly value and further connect with the emotional essence of my music.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in creating sincere and authentic folk music that resonates deeply with listeners. Born in Argentina, I have a strong affinity for Argentine folklore, but my approach is innovative, aiming to push the boundaries and create avant-garde folk music. My songs seek to be heard and accompany the present moment of each person who connects with them.

I take pride in staying true to my artistic vision and values, even amidst industry pressures and trends. I pride myself on creating music that is a true reflection of myself and my experiences rather than conforming to commercial expectations.

What sets me apart is my dedication to authenticity while staying rooted in the essence of Argentine folklore as I explore new musical possibilities. Additionally, I envision taking my songs to the international stage and am working on English versions to reach audiences of different nationalities, allowing them to connect with the lyrics in the near future.

How do you think about luck?
I believe luck is how God, or whatever you may call it, communicates. I’m not religious, but I strongly believe that there’s something more, and I deeply respect religions even though I don’t feel like I belong to any. Yes, the Universe, God, or whatever you want to call it, plays a crucial role in the journey of any artist. Artists work with that divine energy that flows through music.
