Hidden Gems: Meet Seana Zelazo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seana Zelazo.

Seana Zelazo

Hi Seana, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
As a licensed psychotherapist, intuitive channel, spiritual coach, and author, I aim to support people in aligning with their soul’s truth. I began my healing practice as a bodyworker, offering massage therapy and energy work. Even in that capacity, I relied heavily on my intuition to guide me. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a family that nurtured my intuitive gifts, which gave me the confidence to trust my intuition early on. From a very young age, I was interested in end-of-life. I began exploring things like Near Death Experiences (NDEs) as a child in large part because my family encouraged my curiosity in things esoteric. This interest led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Thanatology, the study of death and dying.

I went on to get a Master’s in Social Work and then spent several years as a hospice social worker. That training was incredibly foundational for me. Indeed, my experience in hospice continues to inform all that I do. I feel so honored to have accompanied many beautiful souls through their transition. Supporting individuals through the transition at the end of life helped me to hone my skills as a therapist to work with transitions of all kinds, and thus, at a certain point, I felt called to move into private practice as a psychotherapist. In my private practice, I specialized in grief counseling as well as issues around self-esteem and body image. However, the more I worked with people in that clinical setting, the more I realized that the what I was witnessing in my clients did not fit neatly into the diagnoses needed for insurance reimbursement. Within my clinical practice, I could see the presenting psychological issue, but I could also physically see how that was rooted in what was happening on a spiritual level for the individual. It felt limiting to only be able to address one aspect of a much more integrated experience. This realization inspired me to shift out of traditional psychotherapy so that I could work with my clients in a holistic way.

Today, I provide Soul Readings and Spiritual Coaching. I focus on helping folks connect with their purpose and meaning and develop and trust their own inner guidance. A Soul Reading is an intuitively channeled session in which a client can explore their life through the lens of their Akashic records and higher self.

My interest in end-of-life work guided me to what is sometimes referred to as the Death Mysteries. These are myths, teachings, and practices about ascension. Through this study, I found the Sumerian Goddess Inanna, who is a goddess of the Death Mysteries and one of our earliest ascension teachers. In her mythology, I found a deep resonance and a template for supporting our evolutionary process in the here and now. My book The Way of Inanna: A Heroine’s Guide to Living Unapologetically is a contemporary guide using the mythology of Inanna as exemplary of our own journey of initiation—our descent into the underworld or dark night of the soul. By combining psychology and spirituality, the book supports us in intentionally connecting with the initiations that inevitably show up in our lives from an empowered perspective so that we may heal, access faith in ourselves, and ultimately rise.

In Inanna, I have found the most relatable and accessible aspect of the divine feminine. My hope is that a collective remembering of Inanna will serve as a bridge to remembering our own divinity. The book is published by Haniel Press, an imprint of Sacred Stories Publishing, and available at booksellers worldwide and at https://amzn.to/3dUelO5

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My shift from traditional psychotherapy into the intuitive work that I do now presented many challenges for sure, and they were all part of my own initiation. I think many intuitive would relate to my experience of having to heal long-held witch-wounds from past life trauma around being pathologized, scapegoated, judged, and vilified. I also had to heal my throat chakra from ancient trauma around being silenced and persecuted. Writing my book was a significant means to that end, allowing me to overwrite the trauma and literally authorize my own voice. The healing process allowed me to feel safe enough to lead with my intuition instead of hiding behind my clinical practice.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Seana Zelazo?
Using various healing approaches, including ritual, I help people come into wholeness and psychic alignment. I support them in trusting their own inner guidance and feel safe being authentically who they are. This, in turn, allows them to lift their vibration and access the highest level of consciousness available. The work I do helps people cultivate heart-centered free will—the capacity to choose in all areas of their lives from a place of love instead of fear.

What’s next?
My plans for the future are very goddess-informed in that they are all about collaboration. I am working on several collaborative coaching and retreat projects.
