Conversations with Terrence Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Green.

Terrence Green

Terrence, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in South Central, California, I was raised in a single-parent, low-income household. With a rough upbringing, seeing gang activity daily, and navigating life without the proper support, I initially seemed destined to follow the path that plagued my environment. However, by God’s grace, I was accepted into Tougaloo College. Those years in college changed my perspective and, ultimately, the direction of my life. My passion now lies in giving back and guiding the youth towards a brighter future, determined to show them a way out of similar circumstances.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been far from a smooth road. I experienced challenges growing up with an incarcerated father, a single-parent, low-income household, and having to ten attend over ten schools before college. As a youth, I struggled with which path I would take, seeing gangs and drug dealers daily.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for a few different things: I’m an educator, I am the co-founder of a community-based non-profit, Urban Uplift, I curate a weekly open mic, and I am a member of the honorable Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

I’m proud of my dedication to every organization I work for. What sets me apart is my willingness to consistently not only show up but sacrifice for the people and organizations that I love.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to continue to grow my non-profit (Urban Uplift), continue curating events at a larger scale, and grow in both my personal and professional life.
