Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylan.

Hi Taylan, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started producing and DJ’ing in Los Angeles in the late 90’s. I fell in love with electronic music and drew inspiration from bands like Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, and New Order. Although music has always remained my passion, I chose a career in the medical field and became a surgeon. In 2020, I decided to get back to producing and soon after released tracks with a slew of labels in the progressive house scene, including Univack, Enormous, Beatfreak, Area Verde, Steyoyoke, Freegrant, Movement, Clubsonica, AH Digital, Magnitude, Pillar, Awen, Manual, Droid9, Sunexplosion, Balkan Connection and others. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say my experience with creatives and collaborators has been pretty smooth. I’ve met a lot of cool people along the way and have forged many friendships. However, the biggest disappointment has been the fact that, sadly, the music industry has been hijacked by large corporations, and artists never get their fair share. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I produce progressive house music. I combine vintage analog and modern digital sounds, creating a punchy, deep, hypnotic, and nostalgic vibe. 

I’m known for creating music that is very melodic and edgy. 

I am most proud of my two boys and loving wife, who inspire me every day. 

I believe there are many talented artists in the progressive house scene nowadays. I am delighted to be collaborating with many of them and happy to be a part of this community. 

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
It’s to be happy with who you are and what you do.
