Hi Nick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in the matchmaking industry began with a pivotal role at an international award-winning matchmaking agency, where I developed a deep understanding of the nuances of human relationships. This experience was instrumental in shaping my approach to matchmaking and eventually led to the foundation of Met By Nick, a service that emphasizes personalized, inclusive matchmaking. Drawing on my background in health, wellness, and personal coaching, I aimed to create more meaningful connections. This vision further evolved with the launch of QUALITY, a dating app co-founded with my sister, Melissa Rosen, which integrates AI with traditional matchmaking to foster genuine relationships, moving away from the superficial swiping culture.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a matchmaker brings me great joy and satisfaction. Witnessing my sister being a successful and purpose-driven restauranteur, I knew that starting a business would not be a smooth process. Challenges are always placed in front of you, and problem-solving skills are much needed. To maintain my best performance, I closely watch for burnout. Burnout I consider to be the biggest struggle of being an entrepreneur.
The rate of depression and chronic anxiety (along with other mental health concerns) amongst entrepreneurs is an ever-rising percentage. By becoming an entrepreneur, I had my first exposure to complete burnout, and for me, the beautiful part of our current medical economy is the movement to make therapy more accessible via telehealth.
Meeting regularly with a therapist to help me manage my work-life balance, along with establishing healthy communication in regard to how I engage with my clients, has made me a functional and optimistic business owner.
