Today we’d like to introduce you to Jolene Peters.
Jolene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started dancing at the age of 2yrs old. My dream has always been to dance professionally. At age 20, I moved to Los Angeles on a dance scholarship for the Edge Performing Arts Center. While dancing professionally, my friend introduced me to Pilates, and it was love at first sight. The way Pilates made me feel balanced, aligned, and connected mind and body. Soon after that I became certified and have loved every minute of it, it became my passion to help others enjoy this method. In 2016, I had the opportunity to open my own studio, Studio Joy. Joy embodies all that is good. All that we want to share with others.
Our mission is to provide a space to belong, to discover, and to connect. Our dream is to create an inclusive, community-centered sanctuary. We seek to support one another in meeting the best version of ourselves- from the inside out. We encourage each individual to shine and feel your Joy as you are. In the company of life-minded individuals ready to support and cheer for one another, we have found the greatest gift.
It’s exciting to think about what the future holds.
“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
Langston Hughs
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, so many struggles. What I have learned is to reach out to those that are smarter than you. Talk to people that have been through similar situations. Finding the “right” team that lives and breathes our message. What’s really important to us to treat people with respect. Make things right. Quality customer service.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a business owner / Pilates instructor. What sets me apart, in my opinion, is my willingness to continue to learn and grow. Keep things simple.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is living in a way that feels calm and centered. Life can throw curveballs. Having faith and a strong support system with family and friends is most important.
