Today we’d like to introduce you to Choyce Schwartz.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as a musician at college in Philadelphia. After my 2nd year, I went back to New Jersey and worked as an intern in NYC. During my internship, I spent most of my nights working in various studios, producing and songwriting. After I got my first placement, I managed to build more connections in the music industry, which led me to getting on more projects as a songwriter and working in the music business side. At 23, I worked as an A&R and music manager. Since then, I’ve built my platform through music and have transitioned into modeling outside of music and have started my own company, The Rare Group which focuses on working with creatives in entertainment and media.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly has been everything but smooth. When you begin your career in music, the money takes time to come. You really have to build your value. It was hard because I struggled with working long hours without receiving little to nothing. Facing a lot of “nos” before getting that “yes” that will change everything is tough enough, but being consistent through it all is a struggle in itself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer-songwriter, producer, model, and entrepreneur. Outside of music production, I handle audience development and marketing for artists. I founded The Rare Group company, which specializes in consulting artists in various services that involve music production, digital marketing strategy, management, publishing, and sync licensing. I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built over time in my career. I believe what sets me apart from others is the genuine commitment I have to others and being resourceful in ways that always builds others around me.
