Hi Kate, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the fashion and branding world began with a foundation in business marketing and clothing & textiles, blending my passions for style and commerce. Early roles as a stylist and designer evolved into a keen interest in the business side of fashion, leading me to explore how style intersects with brand identity. Recognizing the unique power of authenticity, I transitioned from personal styling and fashion blogging to brand consulting. This shift allowed me to focus on helping professionals rediscover and align their personal identity with their public persona. Today, I combine my deep understanding of fashion with strategic brand development to offer a unique service that elevates personal and professional brands, ensuring that every aspect – from wardrobe to digital presence – authentically reflects the individual’s true self and story.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My career path has been dynamic, marked by both challenges and triumphs. The key to navigating these ups and downs has been my resilience and belief in the power of a strong comeback. During the early stages of growing my business, I faced not only professional hurdles but also personal ones, as I became a mother to two girls. This period of life required significant identity work, which, in retrospect, was instrumental in helping me rediscover and solidify who I am.

Dealing with imposter syndrome and self-sabotage were part of my journey, but these experiences have been invaluable in building my confidence and clarity in my purpose. There were moments of misalignment with clients or investments that didn’t yield the expected returns, but I view these as lessons rather than mistakes integral to the learning process.

I firmly believe that success is inevitable with consistency and commitment. Entrepreneurship, in my opinion, is just a long personal development journey. It requires you to evolve into the person who can realize your dreams and to believe in yourself that you’re fully capable of actualizing them!

I specialize in personal and professional brand consulting, with a unique focus on aligning an individual’s style and vibe with their broader mission. My work involves helping clients clarify their identity and translating it into an aesthetic that feels authentic to who they are and who they aspire to become. This includes not just fashion styling but also curating their office space and digital presence to ensure a cohesive and impactful brand narrative.

What sets me apart is my holistic approach to branding. I don’t just focus on outward appearances; I dive deep into understanding my clients’ stories, values, and aspirations. This allows me to create a style and brand presence that is not only visually appealing but also deeply resonant with their personal energy and professional goals.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always brimming with confidence and had a natural affinity for the spotlight. I loved being on stage or in front of the camera, whether choreographing dances with friends or producing pretend news channels with my sister. I was deeply engaged in the creative process from a young age, thinking through every detail of our productions.

Fashion was my standout passion. It was ‘my thing’ that everyone recognized me for. I spent hours drawing designs, dreaming of a future far beyond my small hometown in Virginia. My fascination wasn’t just with fashion but with larger, bustling cities like New York, which I obsessively admired.

I also had a knack for reinventing my surroundings, frequently rearranging my room to discover fresh perspectives and experiences. This extended to the digital realm as well, where I learned to code elements of my MySpace page to achieve a desired aesthetic.

As a child, I was enchanted by paper dolls, styling them meticulously, and this evolved into using computer programs to style virtual dolls. I would even create dolls representing my friends, dressing them to match their unique vibes.

Looking back, I realize how these early interests were precursors to my current career. The things I loved before the world could influence my choices are deeply intertwined with my purpose today. From planning photoshoots and creative directing website builds to styling clients and designing their offices, my childhood passions have seamlessly integrated into my professional life.
