From Small-Town Shy Kid to Southern California Magician Extraordinaire: The Enchanting Journey of Jericho the Magnifico
For many, magic is a source of wonder and amazement, but for me, it became a lifelong passion that transformed my life from a shy kid in Centralia, Washington, to a celebrated magician in the heart of Southern California. The story of myself, known as “Jericho the Magnifico,” is one of dedication, hard work, and the pursuit of my passion becoming a reality.
My fascination with magic began at a young age, watching legendary magicians like Criss Angel and David Blaine with my dad. The stunts and close-up magic they performed ignited a curiosity in me about the mysteries behind their tricks and illusions. This curiosity was further fueled when I received a small red suitcase as a Christmas gift containing my very first magician’s kit. It was the key that unlocked a world of wonder.
Every trick in that kit was a challenge for me. I diligently practiced and shared my newly acquired skills with my family, who often gave me constructive feedback. It was their honest criticism that motivated me to persevere. Frustrated by not receiving the reactions I hoped for, I was determined to master the art of magic. I immersed myself in reading instructions and working tirelessly in my room to perfect routines that would leave my audience in awe.
Over the span of 15+ years, I honed my craft. My dedication paid off as I transitioned from the shy kid performing for my family to a confident magician. My first breakthrough came when I performed for 1500+ students at my high school in Centralia, Washington. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would lead me to Southern California.
Today, I am a well-known magician in Southern California with a repertoire of tricks that never fails to captivate audiences. In 2023 alone, I have performed at over 100 events, leaving spectators in sheer amazement with my mesmerizing magic.
I have also embraced the digital age, leveraging social media to connect, network, and build small communities of magic enthusiasts. Under the moniker @jerichothemagnifico, I bring joy and wonder to the internet, sharing my magical talents and fostering a sense of wonder in an increasingly digital world.
My journey from a small-town boy to a celebrated magician is a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and an unrelenting pursuit of one’s dreams. In Southern California, my magic continues to bring joy and enchantment to audiences of all ages, reminding us that the wonder of magic knows no bounds.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Each individual’s journey is unique and distinctive. In my case, it has been marked by the development of self-assurance and the unwavering belief that diligent practice, unwavering dedication, and persistent effort would ultimately pave the path to a career as a full-time magician in the vibrant landscape of Southern California. This transformative voyage necessitated the undertaking of tasks that were not initially appealing but were pursued with unyielding determination.
With the culmination of nearly a decade dedicated to practicing magic, originally as a personal pastime aimed at evoking reactions from strangers, I made a deliberate and resolute decision to elevate my pursuit of the craft. This commitment led to the commencement of charging for my performances, signaling a pivotal shift in my dedication to the art of magic.

Creating memories that I know will last a lifetime for others is what makes me happy! The reactions I received from past clients are priceless. Being able to do what I love and make a living off of it to be able to support my family is the best feeling in the world.
