Kayla Sue Marie Blackwell

Hi Kayla Sue Marie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My musical journey began in the North Pole, Alaska. At four years old, while singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” I knew that becoming a singer was my destiny. Just before my sixth birthday, my family and I moved back to Oregon, the place of my birth. As I grew up, I faced many dark challenges. My parents divorced when I was seven, shortly after which my aunt committed suicide, and our entire family was never the same. My mother became addicted to meth, and various forms of abuse surrounded me. At the age of twelve, my purpose for music transformed into a desire to heal people. I started writing my own lyrics and melodies. My first performance was in front of my school in the sixth grade, where I sang an a cappella version of Kelly Clarkson’s “Break Away.”

In my junior year of high school, I had the honor of playing Ariel in “The Little Mermaid,” a role I absolutely loved. Later, for my senior project, I put together my own Broadway revue, where I performed many songs and mini-skits with other classmates, including my sister, Bryanne.

In December 2015, I moved to Hollywood, California, to attend college at the Musicians Institute. I became close friends with Lil Sis Nora, Karl Zett, and many other amazing artists who are currently thriving today. Another friend named Liza introduced me to the astounding Eddie Montilla, with whom I began to write music. I wrote a few songs with him and Capital Records, but something truly magical started happening to me, and I felt called to move back home. I returned home in July of 2016, which marked the beginning of my spiritual awakening. After a whirlwind of intense energies, I was an outcast, homeless, and lost everything I had. I reached the lowest point in my life where I was ready to give up. In order to move back in with my dad, I had to stop pursuing music and focus on my mental health, which I did for the next two years.

In 2018, I flew to Florida for a week to write a new song called “Diamond In The Sky” with Eddie Montilla. At that time, I had a lot of potential but wasn’t quite ready to fully immerse myself in the music scene just yet. I returned home and continued to focus on my spiritual growth and mental health.

In 2019, my best friend Jon and I realized that we were soulmates and began our life together. We moved to California in January 2020. This year turned out to be the most transformative one for me spiritually. I had many experiences with the divine and was shown the reason for my creation.

In 2022, I started working with Michael Casen, the founder of NuSoundz Studio in Murrieta, CA. We released our first single called “I’m Gold.” I was then discovered by Alien Amp Records out of New York, with whom I recently signed. The music we are creating has a powerful purpose in bringing in higher divine energies through my performances to aid in the transformation of the mind, body, and soul. I am beyond excited to share my spiritual awakening process and the details of my truly magical story.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge that I’ve faced is the fear of what others may think about me. At first, I was afraid that people would think I wasn’t good at singing. Eventually, I worked through that by realizing that everyone has a certain taste in music, and there’s nothing wrong with people who don’t like my voice. Then, my biggest fear was to be fully transparent about my spiritual gifts and experiences. In 2016, when I first told my family, I lost everything and everyone. The only way to live a stable life at that time was to hide my gifts and talents.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The biggest thing that sets me apart from any other artist is my spiritual gift. I see the aura energy of myself, others, and the collective. I communicate with the spiritual realm and work with the higher divine energies to consciously create a new world within myself and those who choose to align with the frequencies I channel. While setting this intention, as I dance to my own music, real magic is created.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
“Conversation With God” three book trilogy written by Neale Donald Walsch. The one that really tied everything together for me is the fourth book. “Conversation With God Awaken The Species.” I just finished this book, and my life has dramatically changed because of it. I owe a huge part of my awakening (if not all of it) to this book.
