Today we’d like to introduce you to Hold For Sound Podcast. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Actors Ava Jean and Lauren Skemp met the day they moved in, September 2022. Throughout the year, the girls began to experience moments that you would only see in a movie. After many out-of-this-world conversations, Ava and Lauren decided to document their memories via video podcasts. The beginning was rough. From making home videos on the floor of their apartment, the first step was with their original show, “Coffee Table Talks.” With Ava’s experience in editing and digital management and Lauren’s pull in the world of podcasting, the girls realized they had the tools to make a true video podcast a reality. With a positive response, the girls began to take themselves more seriously, resulting in “Hold For Sound.” With roots now planted, the girls are able to bring on exceptional guests that are able to bestow their previous knowledge of the entertainment industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The reason Hold For Sound has come to fruition is because of the successes and struggles both Ava and Lauren have experienced. Initially, the girls created the podcast on their couch at home. This was a fun way for the two teenagers to talk about their lives openly and in a real way. Just like any start-up, it has been an uphill climb that comes with new obstacles every day. Regardless, the girls are thankful for the opportunity to create quality content while still being true to who they are.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Since beginning her work in just 2020, Ava Jean’s career has taken her from the stage to the screen. Ava began her professional career in the dance industry, performing at The Kennedy Center in 2018. This led Ava to venture into other creative outlets, such as acting and songwriting. In the summer of 2022, Ava Jean attended Kristin Chenoweth’s Broadway Bootcamp, which prompted her to move to California.
Lauren Skemp has made a splash in many creative avenues of the industry. Recently, she took on the role of the female version of Marty McFly in a national Sephora campaign. Beyond acting, she has established herself in the literary world with her upcoming YA novel, Elite. Currently, Lauren works closely in social media with many of Gen Z’s childhood heroes, such as Anneliese Van Der Pol and Christy Carlson Romano. Collectively, Lauren’s content has reached over 100 million viewers.
What makes you happy?
Creating! The reason we are in the industry is to tell stories and create. When SAG and WGA went on strike, we saw this podcast as a new outlet to continue to do what we love. Knowing that we could be inspiring young artists to chase their dreams makes everything worth it.
