Inspiring Conversations with Yawar Charlie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yawar Charlie.

Yawar Charlie

Hi Yawar, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I was inspired by my grandfather, Noor Mohammed Charlie, who was a legend in the Bollywood film industry. The magic and drama of film drew me to Los Angeles, where I hoped to carve out my own niche in the world of TV and Film. I embraced the city and its enchanting aura, immersing myself into a myriad of roles over the years. But as time passed, a new passion began to unfold – Real Estate.

In 2008, after many years in the entertainment industry, I found myself drawn to the dynamism and tangible sense of achievement that real estate offered. I joined Sotheby’s International Realty, quickly learning the ropes and understanding the landscape of this bustling industry. It was a whole new world, as exciting and challenging as any TV or film role I’d ever played.

With the experience I gained at Sotheby’s, I formed The Charlie and Sanchez Realty Group. Our team was committed to delivering unparalleled service to our clients. However, in 2014, an enticing opportunity presented itself. We made the exciting move to join Engel & Volkers, an international real estate brokerage. The transition gave us the chance to expand our reach to the luxury market in their new Beverly Hills office.

In 2016, I got an offer that I couldn’t resist. I was invited to join the powerhouse team of the Aaron Kirman Group, which was an incredible honor. This move allowed me to further broaden my professional network and refine my expertise in the high-end real estate market of Los Angeles.

With hundreds of listings sold in the Greater Los Angeles area, my approach to real estate has always been grounded in my genuine care for my clients. Attention to detail, market expertise, and creativity are pillars of my practice. But above all, it’s about helping people find a place they truly love. I remember the exhilaration of buying my first home, the hard work that went into it, and the satisfaction when I finally achieved my goal.

My motto, ‘love the place you live’, is not just a tagline. It’s a promise I make to every client, a dedication to helping them find the perfect home, a place where they can create their own story. This is the same focus, energy, and commitment I bring to every transaction. So, while I may have started my career under the bright lights of Hollywood, I’ve found my true calling in the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles real estate.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Navigating the world of real estate has been far from a smooth ride. It’s a world filled with unpredictability, constant ups and downs, driven by a multitude of factors, some within my control and others beyond it. However, I’ve learned to dance in the rain, taking each twist and turn in stride, constantly learning and adapting as I move forward.

I’ve been blessed to witness consistent growth over my career. But I won’t sugarcoat it – it’s a product of relentless hard work, late nights, and an unwavering commitment to my craft. Early on, I had to introspect deeply to understand my unique talents and figure out how they could bring something new to the real estate table.

One of the biggest battles I’ve faced, both as an actor and as a real estate professional, is the temptation to compare my journey to others. It’s an easy trap to fall into, seeing others’ successes and wondering why it isn’t happening for me. It can be daunting and discouraging, but I quickly realized that the only person I should be competing with is myself.

It was a decision I made early in my career, a principle I still stand by. Rather than comparing my journey with others, I focus on becoming the best version of myself every day, continually refining my unique approach and style of business.

Remembering that I can’t and shouldn’t strive to be anyone else but Yawar has been my guiding light. I realized that my brand, my style, and my approach they’re all unique to me. They’re elements that no one else can duplicate. I’m not meant to be a Tom, Dick, or Harry – I’m meant to be Yawar and the best version of him at that.

It’s this mindset that keeps me grounded, fueling my passion and commitment to helping others find their dream homes. The struggle is real, but it’s also rewarding, knowing that every challenge I overcome, and every obstacle I navigate, leads me to become a better version of myself. That’s the journey, and it’s one I’m proud to be on.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Senior Agent with the Aaron Kirman Group, I’ve been part of a highly dedicated and successful team that specializes in luxury real estate in Los Angeles. We are recognized for our expertise, our commitment to our clients, and our innovative approach to marketing properties at both local and international levels.

What sets us apart is not only our successful track record but our unyielding commitment to our clients. I’m proud to have been part of a team that in 2022 alone, sold properties worth $1.9 billion and has racked up $16 billion in total property sales over the years.

Our team’s exceptional performance has garnered us recognition as the Top Sales Team in California in terms of volume from 2017 to 2021. Moreover, our stellar service has won us numerous accolades, including the Engel & Volkers Ruby Award for three consecutive years from 2014 to 2016. Personally, I’ve been honored as one of the Top 10 Realtors in Los Angeles multiple times.

While these recognitions are a testament to our expertise, what I’m most proud of is our unwavering dedication to our clients. We believe in providing an experience that goes beyond mere transactions. We understand the gravity of buying or selling a home, and our aim is to make this journey as smooth and rewarding as possible for our clients.

We’ve built an award-winning team that includes both buyer and listing specialists with extensive experience and knowledge in resale and new home sales. And with our proprietary international marketing program, we ensure the successful sale of each of our listings.

Apart from my work with the Aaron Kirman Group, I have been deeply involved in my community, serving as a Commissioner for the City of West Hollywood’s Historic Preservation Committee since 2013. Additionally, I am part of various television shows that delve into the real estate world, including CNBC/NBC’s “Listing Impossible” and Amazon, Apple, Roku’s “The American Dream TV”.

Our brand, our ethos, is about much more than just selling properties. We aim to help people find their dream homes, guide businesses to their perfect commercial spaces, and contribute to our vibrant Los Angeles community. My promise to you is a commitment to help you find a place you will love and cherish. This is what drives me every day, and it’s what makes our work so fulfilling.

What matters most to you?
The guiding stars of my life are integrity, honesty, and authenticity. Living in Los Angeles, where opportunities are abundant and temptations are many, remaining true to these values can be challenging, yet it’s a commitment I hold dear.

Integrity for me, means more than ethical business dealings; it’s about carrying a moral compass in every aspect of life. It means standing by my promises, prioritizing my clients’ needs, and treating every transaction with the utmost transparency and fairness.

Honesty isn’t just about sharing facts but also about having the courage to communicate openly, even when truths are hard to face. It means tackling challenges head-on and striving to find the right solutions, even when they aren’t the easiest ones.

Authenticity for me is staying genuine, treating everyone with kindness and respect because that’s how people should be treated. It’s about being more than just a realtor; it’s about being a friend, a confidant, and a guide to my clients.

These principles have shaped who I am, both personally and professionally. They are reflected in my relationships, my reputation, and every decision I make. Real estate isn’t just about properties and transactions; it’s about people, their dreams, and aspirations. And by staying true to these principles, I believe I can make a real difference in their lives. That’s what truly matters to me.
