Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Wheaton.
Hi Christine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in High School I was fortunate enough to work at a local grocery store and found my way to the florist section more times than I can count. I was probably supposed to be bagging or cashiering but finally landed a spot as their florist. Since then, I have always maintained a regular nine (9) to five (5) but my creative side would always get excited when I was able to entertain guests in my home. Somehow, I managed to turn this very basic home of mine into this beautiful space with my touch of flowers. I slowly started making sure all my friends and family events were just as beautiful. While planning my own wedding, I was in introduced to Unique Floral and not only became a customer but also decided to officially work/consult with them as well. It wasn’t long after that I was pregnant with my second child and found myself at home due to a less than pleasant pregnancy that my friends and family surrounding me convinced me to kick it in full gear and go for it…
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been fortunate in so many ways. I would say that the support I found from so many people in my life helped make my journey as smooth as possible. It is, however, scary so I am glad I got over my fears and decided to bank on myself. I struggle at times with the balance of it all. I find myself not having a free weekend for months at a time, and as a mom of two it can be challenging, but I have always had a great support system.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Weddings, weddings, weddings!!! I absolutely believe that there isn’t an occasion that exists, that wouldn’t be better by celebrating with flowers… However, If I had to choose just one, it would be weddings. I absolutely love LOVE!! I feel that weddings allow me to meet so many individuals with different visions and styles and I find myself easy to adapt and be able to bring their visions to life! I am well-versed in many different styles. Most often, I am asked to design modern, boho, or elegant. Also, some clients task me with planning something myself, and I love that. Whether big or small, regardless of budget I know I can transform a space to be perfect. I would say that is what sets me apart… I truly get a sense of who my clients are and do my absolute best to bring it all together with beautiful floral designs and arrangements.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was beyond blessed, my parents worked hard for everything my younger brother and I had. I played soccer at a highly competitive level and also was able to dance competitively. These created lifelong friends for me and in high school I was very social and wanted to be friends with everyone. I loved to help anyone but I also knew how to enjoy life. I believe in balance in every aspect of life and it truly has shaped me into the woman I am today and my parents were a huge part of it.
