Meet Chad Cherry of Chad Cherry Clothing in Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Cherry.

Chad, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been playing and touring with live music almost all my life. I would always make my own stage clothes for concerts and everyone would constantly ask me “Where do you get your clothes?!?” I never really gave any consideration about making clothing for the masses until it hit me one day while I had some downtime from touring. It was my birthday and out of nowhere I said to myself out loud “It’s time to start Chad Cherry Clothing!” It was like a lightning bolt struck me and I was off to the races! From there, an organic buzz started and all of a sudden musicians, actors, rockstars, entertainers of ALL sorts and people that just love to wear crazy outfits started contacting me to make everything from shoes to apocalyptic wedding outfits! Most everything I do basically represents who I am with my love of horror movies, special effects and rock n roll music.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting something from the ground up will always have its obstacles. If there isn’t a struggle or a mountain to climb then you’re not going to learn how to conquer. I’ve come to learn that something will most likely go wrong before it will go right so I always prepare for it. I still find it hard at times to balance the music side of life (and all that goes along with it) and the clothing line. It can get pretty demanding at times but I’ve made my bed. It’s a lot of work. But the more work you put into something the more successful will most likely become.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Chad Cherry Clothing story. Tell us more about the business.
ChadCherryClothing is an extension of myself and everything that I’m about. I would never create anything that I wouldn’t wear myself. I make horror themed, distressed, war-torn, rock n roll fashion that’s a reflection of each person that orders something or wants me to create it custom for them. I’m proud of the fact that customers and clients like this stuff so much that they keep coming back for new creations. It makes them happy. It makes them feel great about themselves when they’re wearing the gear. I try to make everything a little different to match the individuality of each person.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure if luck has had anything to do with it. What I am sure of is that it’s been a lot of hard ass work. That’s what sails the ship.
