Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Jackson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a 30 year African American female born and raised in Jackson, MS. I am the owner & chef of A Taste of Soul Restaurant. I grew up in a large household with my siblings and my aunts. My aunt was known for her delicious meals which she prepared for church, class reunions, friends, and family. Well, I myself was right by her side, assisting her along the way. I began cooking at the age of seven my first meal was Fried chicken for our family of seven. I’ve always had a love for cooking, having friends and family over for Sunday dinner. In February 2022 I launched my food business A Taste of Soul it initially started out as a delivery and catering service but my business grew so quickly that within six months I couldn’t cook enough food. I started selling out within 2 hours. That’s when I realized I really had something good going. I mean don’t get me wrong I knew I cooked great-tasting food but for so many to like my food and request for it daily was amazing. Now I currently have a storefront where I offer a variety of Soul food options for lunch, dinner, and catering events.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road it definitely was not but I must say what didn’t kill me made me stronger there were many setbacks in opening my restaurant and requirements I had to meet in order to open and service the general public properly. I learned so much along the way and I am very proud of my hard work and consistent effort.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a child and going into adulthood I’ve always had a heart for helping people no matter the need, from helping with cleaning, grocery shopping taking out trash for the elderly, volunteering, or feeding the homeless. I simply just love people and I don’t meet a stranger. So in my day to day, I do my best to give back. Whether it’s to my community, church, or different organizations. I love to help in any way I possibly can. God has truly blessed me and I enjoy blessings others.
