Today we’d like to introduce you to Dimitri Fostinis.
Hi Dimitri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I moved to Los Angeles in 2017, I didn’t really have much of a goal. I just knew this was the place for opportunity and opportunity just landed in my lap. I’ve always made music my whole life and then something random happened. I got involved with the live-stream world and teamed up with my friend to create one of the largest live-stream talent agencies in North America. For the last five years, we’ve helped a lot of people earn money and freedom on their own time from the power of the cell phone. It’s been an incredible run these last years. During this time, I got to travel the world and do things I dreamed of. I was DJing a lot on the side and doing corporate events and some local events at times. I put creating music on pause for a while. Now, life really all started to come back to music. I started making music in 2011 and now I get to make bigger and better music in 2023.
During my life, I’ve loved playing drums and being a DJ. This past year, I have started to play bigger and bigger stages and started to get some recognition online for my music. Overnight success really takes about 10 years, eh? Along with my jobs and music, I always considered myself a really good salesman, so I decided to also dip my toes in real estate. The real estate test in California is known to be one of the hardest real estate tests in the country. It took me a few tries, but I finally passed and am so excited to finally get the ball rolling. It’s a new path and I’m so confident I can do well in real estate.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. I love working and I love to hustle in multiple different areas. Doing so much at once has been extremely difficult, especially battling everything and trying to learn a whole new path. Though I’m very happy about my music and where things are going on that route, learning real estate has been an uphill battle. I never did well in school so learning has been difficult for me. Even though I finally passed my test and got the hardest part down. The next battle is finding quality buyers and also even finding people that want to list their homes. The market is a little bit shaky right now so I just really hope it will all work out. Usually, the first couple of sales get things started, but until then, I’m just nervous it won’t work out. I’ve done well making tough things work out in my life, but this is all so new for me. I am partially excited at the same time too. I know the information to help people make informed choices with home buying, but where do I find those people? My mind is always working 200mph and I struggle to relax and take a breather sometimes. Though it will take time, I do have high hopes that real estate will work out for me. Music too of course!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I grew up in Northern New Jersey and got into music when I started guitar really young. I did okay with guitar but when the first RockBand video came out in 2007, I got addicted to the drums and started teaching myself how to play. I picked it up very quickly. I was in and out of bands and after basically getting kicked out of one in high school, I knew I needed to take a solo route. I wanted to start making my own music and do everything on my own. In 2011 I started learning how to compose and create music which led to DJing and making exciting dance music. I went to a Lotus concert in NYC. Lotus is a jam band whom I enjoy. This was my first big concert ever. During this event, there was a DJ opening up from them and his name was NiT GriT.
It was during that moment where I saw only one person controlling the crowd of hundreds of people. We didn’t even go there for that type of music or artist but that was a changing point in my life. It was that moment that I wanted to be the main controller of a crowd. I stayed up days and nights learning how to make music and DJ fluently. I started doing mobile events, bars, and corporate events until I progressed into doing more of the nightclub scene. I was also only like 16 when I started, so things really picked up for me around 19 years old. I truly enjoy making music that people dance to. I’d love for it to get picked up and be delivered to the masses. A lot of people make dance music, but I’ve always felt that I was different. Not even that my music is much different that similar artists, but when I perform, it is on another level. I’ve always loved performing across all instruments.
When I’m doing a live mix, the vibe is unmatched. I’m very confident that this will show as my events start to get bigger. By 2024, I feel a very large shift for myself and music. I’m super excited for all of the current music that I’m working on. I want to focus on getting some really cool vocals on the new tracks. The only thing I can say about the newest song I’m working on is that it’s a great combination of two different genres. It has some really sick vocals and I hope this next one can be one people can relate to. I have just about one big show every month for the next six months so I’m ready to play at some new venues and have lots of new experiences on the way.
How do you think about luck?
I think people get really confused between luck and hard work. Luck comes when you work hard. My entire life, I have really “gotten lucky” a lot and people notice that. What they don’t notice is the sleepless nights and endless days of work that goes into it. I sure have had cases of “bad luck” too. I think bad luck comes from doing the wrong things. Once I started to shift my mindset and work on things that make people happy and treat people with respect, the bad luck seemed to fade away. I truly enjoy doing good things now. And I think good karma will rub off on me for doing the right things. If I truly believe that things will work out in music and real estate, then they will. There is a lot that goes into the power of manifestation. I’m not going to just sit home everyday and do nothing that will help my future. I want to grow and learn. I want to make things work on my terms and live the life I want to live.
