Meet Adaeze Nwanonyiri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adaeze Nwanonyiri.

Hi Adaeze, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Attended a performing arts conservatory in New York City and in order to make ends meet, I began designing my friend’s dorm rooms and apartments. Word of mouth led to multiple requests of interior designs of different spaces such as lofts and homes.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road as New York City is one of the most exciting, grittiest, adventurous, yet humbling city that will show you what you are made of. There were times that I had to purchase books and dance costumes for my classes, but my interior designing assignments were not consistent. This meant that I had to start thinking outside of the box and I offered my designing consultations to churches and some of my professors and theater instructors.

I would convince them that their office space did not represent their personality and it had to be spruced up. The gift of gab payed off because they would give me that opportunity to work my magic.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an interior designer who invests, buy, rebrand and offers consultation services. What sets me apart is that I am a fist born Nigerian interior decorator that focuses on cultural restaurants. This allows all establishments to maintain its authenticity. I am most proud of the upcoming development of my new show, Its A Sweet World, premiering on JLTV in the Fall of 2023.

It will focus on me and my business partner and husband, Lenny Rosenberg traveling across the United States meeting with different restaurant and cafe owners who are multicultural and looking to revive their restaurants and food items while maintaining the true essence of their culture.

What matters most to you?
Authenticity and not forgetting where you come from. It also important to share who you are with the world.
