Meet Dr. Michael Corpuz of Beverly Hills & Westwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Michael Corpuz.

Dr. Corpuz is a foot & ankle specialist and surgeon. He grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, CA with a love for all things basketball – particularly sneakers and the science of the sport. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Southern California, majoring in Kinesiology / Exercise Science.

After completing his medical training at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Podiatric Medicine, he finished his three-year residency training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, specializing in reconstructive foot, rearfoot, and ankle surgery. During his extensive training, he organized several educational workshops for medical students and authored research papers in various medical journals and online publications.

Upon completing his residency training, he joined a private practice group with offices in the Beverly Hills and Westwood neighborhoods of LA. He has special interests in the management of sports injuries, biomechanics, custom orthotic construction, diabetic foot and wound care, and surgical correction of bunion deformities.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not the smoothest road but the struggles weren’t particularly unique, either. The obstacles and challenges were typical of any aspiring physician: long hours and hard work from the classroom to the hospital floors to the operating room.

What were you like growing up?
Very curious and inquisitive. Family oriented, with a tight-knit group of cousins. Diehard Laker fan. Obsessed with basketball.
