Community Highlights: Meet Lexi Stephens of Lexi’s Wine List

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Stephens.

Hi Lexi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After falling in love with wine in the heart of Tuscany, I realized the beverage fit right in with my other two passions – food and travel – so I became a full-time wine enthusiast. I started my career in the global wine marketing world and eventually made my way into wine sales, and later consulted and built wine programs for some top Los Angeles restaurants.

In addition to experience on many sides of the industry, I have also completed my WSET education through Level 3, and passed with distinction.

Along the way, I discovered my love for education – more specifically, my passion for teaching people about wine. Wine is my life and I love helping people learn more about it!

I started my blog and wine-tasting business because I love to provide approachable wine education and events for everyday wine drinkers.

During the shutdown, I began hosting virtual wine-tasting classes as a way to bring loved ones together from around the world and make up for canceled events.

Recently, I’ve expanded my services to in-person wine tastings for special events like birthday parties, bridal events, team happy hours, and more. I also run a wine club that highlights boutique California wineries and connects winemakers to consumers.

I’m passionate about teaching the basics of wine tasting, sharing wine recommendations, supporting small wineries, and helping people feel confident in choosing wines they love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t all been smooth, but I feel so lucky to be where I’m at today.

One of the biggest struggles for me was facing my imposter syndrome and being worried about what people would think of me. Once I got past that, the biggest hurdle/risk was quitting my full-time job and committing to making my own business work.

It has been tough to find my footing and be my own boss without the corporate structure I was used to, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Through my company, Lexi’s Wine List, I offer virtual wine tastings globally and in-person wine tastings in Los Angeles and Orange County, CA. Each tasting is customizable, complete with a personalized wine list, food pairing suggestions for each wine, and guides you can refer to whenever you are enjoying a glass.

My wine-tasting events are a fun and educational way to celebrate a special occasion or elevate your evening in with friends or family. Any level of wine enthusiast is welcome.

I also run Wine Tasting Club, which is a subscription service that allows wine drinkers to attend my monthly virtual wine tastings, get discounts on wine, and access to exclusive content. It’s a community of wine lovers who connect from all over the country and are excited to be a part of a group with similar interests. Members have an option to join a monthly themed virtual tasting led by me, and they can also opt into exclusive boutique wine shipments and tune into a live tasting with unique California winemakers each month.

It’s basically like a book club, but for wine 🙂

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to keep going and helping more people feel confident in choosing wines they love. I love providing wine tasting experiences for events, so I’m hoping to expand that more as well as grow my Wine Tasting Club community, so I can help more folks feel confident about wine.
