Exploring Life & Business with Aubrey Duncan of BOLDLY BE Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Duncan.

Hi Aubrey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I do most things feet first. When something interests me, I will pursue it and indulge in it until I’m the best at it. I was an Interior Designer at a top 25 firm in NYC. It was an amazing career with stability, connections, and perks. I remember sitting in my cubicle one day, feeling miserable. I felt pigeonholed, I lacked confidence, and I was slowly losing my authentic identity. I was goofing off at a company function and a coworker suggested I become an actor. Acting never crossed my radar so I quickly brushed off the idea. A month later I found an acting school and enrolled in a 12-week program. After my first class, I immediately called my dad and told him I’m going to be an actor. Eight months later, I quit my design career and began my acting journey. From that day on I promised myself that whatever I choose to do it will come from a place of empowerment, courage, and adventure.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is full of bumpy and unpaved roads. Any time you’re reinventing yourself and creating expansion, it’s inevitable to experience growing pains and learning curves.

I’m on an unconventional journey and it certainly comes with its territory of challenges. When I moved to LA, I didn’t have a job, a place to live, a network, or a community here. It was exciting to be in a new place and I also experienced extreme loneliness and fear. Leading my own coaching business and being an actor requires commitment, vulnerability, trust, courage, faith, and risk. There have been times when I didn’t know where my next paycheck was coming from which created scarcity for me. Comparing yourself to others is an easy rabbit hole to venture down. There is no equation or ladder to climb, especially in the acting industry. We audition for several roles and don’t always book the job. It can be really disappointing.

I have learned to experience life in the present moment, create space for self-compassion, stay true to myself, and when times get wonky, put my hands in the air, ugly laugh and cry, and ride that beautiful, thrilling rollercoaster ride of life.

We’ve been impressed with BOLDLY BE Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In addition to acting, I’m an ICF certified Life Coach and have a private practice: BOLDLY BE Coaching. I’m trained in Ontology which is the study of Being. My clients are multifaceted entrepreneurs, creatives, and incredible human beings who are possibly transitioning in their careers, looking to increase their finances, wanting to deepen relationships with themselves and others, breakthrough perfectionism, overwhelm, burnout, scarcity, and desire more confidence, peace, joy, adventure, love, and fulfillment in their lives.

I’m proud of everything involving BOLDLY BE. Creating a vision comes from a place of meaning, passion, and purpose. BOLDLY BE is an invitation and a space to take risks, to live outside your comfort zone, to push beyond what you thought possible, and to live life from your most authentic self. Build your life by YOUR design, not what society has told you and not what others say you ‘should’ do. No two humans are the same, every single one of us is original in our own unique ways. Please honor that about you and your journey.

I offer 1:1 coaching, group coaching, workshops, and event pop-ups/vendor.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Wherever we are in the future, human connection and love better show up to the party.
