Meet Tammy Glover

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Glover. She and her team shared their story with us below:

Tammy Glover is a musician and television producer who started her professional career at MTV in Los Angeles. She toured the world with Sparks as the drummer for brothers Ron and Russell Mael and appears in Edgar Wright’s celebrated documentary about the band, The Sparks Brothers. She’s also one half of the indie rock band Thorcraft Cobra; she’s currently the Head of Production for TNT, TBS, and TruTV, part of Warner Bros Discovery, where her slate includes Snowpiercer with Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, Miracle Workers with Daniel Radcliffe, and the Impractical Jokers franchise. Prior to that, she was the VP of Production at Comedy Central, where she guided hits such as Inside Amy Schumer, Key & Peele, Tosh.0, The Daily Show, and South Park. Tammy is a leader in organizations such as The Television Academy, where she served as a Governor for Production Executives. Wendy, My Darling is her first solo album.

As soon as she started writing the songs, a theme emerged, and Tammy decided to create a show inspired by the songs. She reached out to actress April Wish, who she’d seen perform. April began to reimagine her favorite fairy tale, Peter Pan, through a modern lens with Wendy Darling, Peter’s fellow adventurer in Neverland, at the center. Together, Tammy and April created a new indie rock musical about what happens to Wendy Darling from Peter Pan when she chooses to grow up and reclaim her magic – a transcendent look at one of the world’s most famous yet least examined characters. Busy Philipps plays Wendy’s BFF, and Jon Cryer plays her agent – they’re featured in video pieces, zoom calls, text messages, and phone calls that April interacts with on stage in this innovative production. Magical, timely, and timeless, the songs create a stunningly original soundtrack that explores the impact of storytelling and storytellers in our collective culture. They previewed the show in Canada last summer, and now, they’re taking it to Asheville, NC + bringing it to SoCal in April and May. Tammy’s first single, LA, I Love You, came out on 2/14 to coincide with Valentine’s Day – you can be in love with a city if it’s Los Angeles, right?

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Creating anything is one big struggle. The hurdles are constant, and assembling the right team is key. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, find partners!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I chose Artist/Creative, but I also fit into the Employee/Professional drop-down menu because I go back and forth between creative projects and my work as a production executive. It’s been an interesting, unexpected journey. I came to Los Angeles to play music and found early success as a ringer in other people’s projects. I didn’t have publishing on those projects, though, so I always needed to find a job between music gigs. As I started to move up the ranks in television production, I was able to find music gigs where I could rehearse in Los Angeles and tour on vacation. By the time I became VP of Production for Comedy Central, I had played on a few albums for Ron and Russell Mael is Sparks, and then, in 2011 we mounted The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman at The Ford theater in LA. When I started work on my solo album (Wendy, My Darling), I knew that creating a theatrical show around it would be the perfect way to showcase the songs and the most fun way to tour with it.

Any big plans?
I’m so grateful to be able to work on music and create this show (Wendy, My Darling) while producing TV for Warner Bros Discovery. My husband and I are empty-nesters now and I’m really looking forward to traveling with the show and bringing it to audiences around the US and the world.
