Life & Work with Grant Knoche

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Knoche.

Hi Grant, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hey! So great to talk with you guys 🙂 My name is Grant Knoche & I’m a 20-year-old LGBTQ+ up & coming artist, songwriter, & producer.

At age seven, I started in dance classes doing jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, etc. My favorite thing was to dance lyrical to ballads. That then led me to Adele’s music, which I obsessed over! At age 9, I taught myself how to sing & play all of her songs on piano of YouTube & haven’t stopped singing since then!

At age ten, I was a part of the massive franchise Kidz Bop as one of four kids. I recorded 12 billboard top 10 charting albums, toured & performed 160+ shows, shot music videos/commercials, etc. I was a part of Kidz Bop for four years & It was such a great experience. It really showed me that music is what I wanted to continue doing in my life!

At age 11, I taught myself how to write songs & produce music on Logic Pro x & have been writing ever since!

Fast forward to me now at age 20, I’ve released two EPs fully self-produced & co-written by me, competed & represented my home state of Texas on NBC’s latest show, American Song Contest, with my song MR. INDEPENDENT & placed 4th out of 56, gone viral across Tik Tok gaining over 50M+ views with my coming out song, FIRST HELLO, & so much more! I most recently released my new single, ANOTHER REASON, which is available everywhere! I’m so blessed that I get to live my dream daily & am so excited to release new music coming soon!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
You can’t have success without challenges & I’ve definitely had obstacles throughout my career so far! I’m currently an independent artist & have been doing most of it all on my own without a team. I produce & write the songs, direct, film, & edit a lot of my music videos/content, do the marketing, PR, etc. I’ve also been told “No” sooo many times! I can’t lie that at times it’s been discouraging, but it’s also what makes me want to keep going! Every time I get a “no”, I tell myself “this is why people quit & I’m not gonna quit!”. It’s definitely taken a lot of hard work but I’m so appreciative of it all because it’ll make the success so much more worth it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think something that sets me apart from others is that I do most everything myself. So whatever you see me release is coming straight from me to you! I get to be super true & authentically me with my music, branding, vision!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising is that I also produce & write music for other artists! My own artist career is my main focus but I also love stepping away from that at times to help other artists curate & create their own music! I’ve produced/written music for artists such as Tayler Buono, Victoria Justice (music releasing soon), Jades Goudreault (music releasing soon), & so many more artists! It’s very fun because it allows me to be super creative & think in other ways that I wouldn’t normally think for my own music!
