Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny La.
Hi Johnny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was in my mid-20s, I’ve always had the passion of someday moving to Los Angeles. It was something about seeing the city on TV and in movies that inspired me to want to be here. I’ve lived my entire life in San Jose, and I knew that I was ready for a new adventure in my life. In 2014, at the age of 29, I dropped everything in my life and packed my bags. I hopped in my car and drove to Los Angeles, where I would begin my journey. My fascination for real estate started when I began falling in love with the city, neighborhood, and homes that are here. I was fortunate to have been able to attend events all over Los Angeles and some at the homes of celebrities. I was able to discover the many pockets of Los Angeles that have beautiful neighborhoods and homes. I knew that real estate would be my calling, and got my license and joined The Collective, Realty in West Hollywood. My friends over at The Collective are considered family to me. They provided amazing mentorship and friendship since I’ve been with them, and I couldn’t have asked for more from a brokerage. I’ve built my business based on relationships and the knowledge of being in Los Angeles since 2014. My clients mean everything to me, and I’m working hard every day to continue my journey and serve my clients in need.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Real estate has its ups and downs. Being able to adapt to market volatility can sometimes be difficult for a real estate agent. You can have a fantastic year of making real estate deals, and the next year can be a struggle because both buyers and sellers are uncertain about what to do. As a real estate agent, I will always do my best to advise my clients on how to best approach their real estate needs. When I first started as a real estate agent, it was hard to gain trust because oftentimes, clients don’t want to work with newer agents. But luckily, I’ve had amazing mentorship from The Collective that helped guided me through this difficult industry.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Real Estate Agent at The Collective, Realty?
I am a real estate agent in Los Angeles, California, and I specialize in helping clients buy and sell their homes. My motto on my website is “An agent that cares”. Oftentimes, you’ll meet agents who only care about closing the deal because they want their commission checks. But my goal is to make sure the client that I’m representing is getting the best deal, and if it means not going through with it, then we say no. I’ve heard many horror stories of real estate agents convincing their clients to take a deal only to find out that they’ve lost hundreds of thousands of dollars because the agent wasn’t patient. At The Collective, Realty, they only hire 20% of agents they interview. To be able to join The Collective means a lot to me, and it means that they trust me to represent them as a real estate agent.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has certainly played a role in my life and business. Had I not met my friend Yale Scott here in Los Angeles, I would not have been considered in joining The Collective, Realty. I’ve realized that I’ve been very fortunate to be with a wonderful brokerage that takes great care of its agents. And we are not considered just agents to them, we are considered family. This plays a major role in keeping us motivated and our mentality strong.
