Daily Inspiration: Meet Brigid Becker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigid Becker.

Hi Brigid, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In the early 2000s, Brigid was decorating newly purchased condo in Palm Springs and fell in love sourcing vintage and the process of making a space come to life with items from the past. Since then she continued to fuel this passion by decorating more houses with one-of-a-kind vintage treasures. Now she’s sharing her love for vintage with South Bay community through her store, The Hang. 70s glam objects for the home are her specialty and there’s something for everyone at the shop.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of our struggles is that our business is located upstairs. To get people off street level has proven to be difficult but once someone arrives they blown away and are eager to come back and share The Hang with their friends.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The Hang was founded by a fifth-generation Californian, Brigid Becker. The Hang brings 70s funk and unique home goods to one of Los Angeles’ most popular beach towns.

We specialize in 70s glam objects for the home, anything from a tassel settee sourced from the oldest house in Laguna Beach to a pop art giant light bulb hanging lamp.

We are only vintage home store in downtown Manhattan Beach. We have an uncanny knack for supplying objects for the home that people really connect with and plan to have for a lifetime.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My daughter-in-law Liz Becker has helped grow our social media presence and work with our vendors. And Jenny Clark is in the shop every day helping make the store perfect.

Family and friends have always supported my creative vision even when it meant living in a basement for many months during a remodel.

Michael Moloney inspired my joy of hunting for the best vintage pieces while also keeping things affordable.
