Conversations with Ahnyla Mars

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahnyla Mars.

Hi Ahnyla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey started as a Fit Model, then from there my influencer career began but my goal for 2023 is to focus more on my modeling career! Before it all, I worked as a sales associate for victoria’s secret and a manager of mines always reminded me of the light she saw in me. She was able to get me a fit modeling opportunity with Good American through a previous connection from her modeling career. The experience woke me up. It made me realize there is more to life than the bubble I’ve gotten used to. Working with GA gave me motivation and excitement to move forward in my modeling career.

From then on, I pushed out content from cringy TikToks to Fashion posts for Instagram. The more consistent I was, the more followers I gained and from there, my influencer career kicked off. I gained 70k followers within the year of 2022 and I’m still shocked to see the love and support that I get from my supporters. Hearing how I’ve changed a few lives and motivated others warms my heart and keeps me pushing. I thrive to help others realize they are worthy and they can enjoy their life without limitation. So It helps me realize my work has a bigger purpose and that is what motivates me. Now, I am working on different things, revamping my social appearance and dipping my toes in things I’ve always wanted to do!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. With love comes hate, and sometimes the hate can be a lot, but the love is overwhelming. Hate comments and fat-shaming comments are probably under every Instagram post of mine, and I leave them there. I feel like it’s not as realistic if I delete the ignorant comments that flow through, I let people show the world who they truly are and let them look silly. At the end of the day I am human, and when the hate tries to overpower me I remind myself Beyonce doesn’t look at her comments nor does she care about what others say about her negatively and that snaps me back to reality lol.

I’ve also ran into people who claim to help me but does more damage than actually helping. it’s sad but I just move forward and remove myself from the situation.

I’ve also been through personal life issues and stressful situations that can distract me from work and causes a pause in my posting, which hurts my engagement making it 10x harder to gain back the numbers I’m used to, but within the time it happens.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My title is a Plus-Size Model and Content Creator. I specialize in creating content on social platforms for my audience that sees themselves in me, looks for fashion/ beauty ideas and that wants to get to know me a little more!
I am known for my lifestyle and fashion.

I believe what sets me apart from others is my personality, I can be extremely professional and outside of professional settings I’m silly and goofy and I laugh and any and everything. Once I created a Youtube Channel, I realized how much people love to see both sides of me and I love to provide more of me to my supporters.
I am most proud of my growth, in the past before my career, I was comfortable with giving up on myself but once I start doing what I loved, Giving up on myself was not an option for me.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
What I’ve realized with casting and networking is being yourself is key, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a situation where I’ve prepared myself to code switch when in reality, they just want you to be yourself, and when you show your true self you automatically set yourself apart from others. Your most memorable when you are yourself.
