Check Out Hugo Castro’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hugo Castro.

Hi Hugo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Sonora Mexico, from San Luis RC, where I grew up most of my life.  Did high school in Yuma, AZ then College at Northern Arizona University (NAU), where I studied a BS in Business Management.  I moved to Irvine in Orange County to work in the Mortgage & Real Estate industry, and attended Acting School at the South Coast Repertory Conservatory Theatre for a few years.  Started working with an agent and worked in multiple projects in the entertainment industry.  When the Mortgage industry crashed I started my career as a chef and my first official job was at a casino in Temecula, where I spent a few years working.  Moved to LA in 2012 to work at different restaurants and continue my culinary career as a chef and actor, until I got a good job offer to go back to the housing industry. Wanting to continue my passion for food, I started working on my social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok and launched my own Salsa Brand called “Hugo The Foodie.”  Also been preparing myself as a photographer which is a passion I’ve always had since I was a kid.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course it hasn’t been a smooth road, I’ve had multiple obstacles along the way but I’ve always been very persistent which has helped me get to where I am today.  I always make sure I get where I want and achieve my goals.  I really believe that if you know what you want,  it’s always possible to make it happen as long as you work hard for it.  Having a job that gives me the flexibility to work on my multiple careers has been really important for which i’m very thankful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So I’m very artistic person on the different things I do.  I can’t really categorize myself in just one thing but working on my multiple careers gives me the flexibility to feel happy with myself.  I am a chef and a foodie, which is my passion and work on my food blogs posting my own recipes as well as food & restaurant reviews.  I got multiple social media accounts where I post all my local and traveling food experiences.  Since I have a love for photography also, I’m always taking photos and videos of food, places and all my experiences to share them with my followers.  Currently have a new agent to continue working on my acting career which hopefully new projects come my way.  I’m also working on continue growing my Salsa brand through my website and hopefully selling it in stores soon.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice is to NEVER give up on your dreams and always believe in yourself!  Sometimes life gets rough but keep focused on your goals and make them happen.  Learn from people in your industry, get your self out there, share your experiences and get as much as you can from others to always keep growing.  When it comes to social media, nowadays everyone wants to be an expert, but just share your story, your experiences, and only time will give you that knowledge that we all learn with time.  Surround yourself with good people that likes you, that cares about you, they will always help to grow.  For me, my social media keeps me busy and it also connected me with the acting world again, so  hopefully you’ll see more of me soon.  I believe everything happens for a reason and what is meant for you will be for you!
