Exploring Life & Business with Brianna Rooney of Thriversity, TalentPerch, and The Millionaire Recruiter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Rooney.

Hi Brianna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I walked out of my 6-figure recruiting job when I was 24 years old. I didn’t like how my company was behaving and left. No plan, no interviews, no future. I was making a point and I felt good about it. I had planned on going right back to my job because my boss said he would fix it. I celebrated how ballsy I was and that was it.

When that call back from my boss didn’t happen. My stepdad asked me, “what does your boss do for you, that you can’t do for yourself?” I said, “nothing”. So I took a giant leap and started my own recruiting business; Techees Recruiting.

I had tons of trial and error. I was a great recruiter, I had good instincts and I had a lot to prove. Not only to myself but to all the people that thought I needed a formal education to go far.

Throughout the years I really honed in on training the best recruiters. We set a standard that the industry still doesn’t have today. We made sure the quality of people we were recruiting and the companies we worked with were top-notch. We developed true lasting partnerships and we thrived.

n the midst of all this fun, I started The Millionaire Recruiter YouTube channel and built an online course to teach the masses to be a great, trusted recruiter. This was my way to constantly pay it forward and it has morphed into something way bigger than I could have imagined.

12 years later, Affirm acquired the team I built and trained. It was bittersweet and no one could have prepared me for what I would have felt after. During the chaos, I built two other companies, TalentPerch and Thriversity. I knew I wasn’t yet done. I wanted to bring Techees standards to the whole industry. That is my current journey and I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Ha! It’s been really tough. At first, it did come easy. But I think that’s because I had so much fire. Then we decided to hire. Yikes! Hiring, training, and retaining took a lot of practice. Even when you think you know how to tell if someone is going to be great, you get a bad seed.

The recruiting industry goes through a lot of different trends. You have to pay attention and you have to morph with it. If you do the same old thing, you’re not going to get the same results.

You need to constantly look at your P&Ls and not just throw money at problems. You need to use data (not feelings) to attack.

A huge roadblock I encountered was dealing with imposter syndrome. I started my own business at such a young age and found tons of success. I didn’t get the right mentor early enough in my journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Thriversity, TalentPerch, and The Millionaire Recruiter?
Thriversity is changing the way the world views recruiting. We are known for training the best inclusive tech recruiters and non-tech recruiters (we call that renaissance recruiter). We also tackle the whole organization when it comes to hiring. There is a science to the process as a whole and who is involved. We train hiring managers on how to be involved in every aspect, which saves companies hundreds of thousands of dollars, and countless hours.

Brand-wise, The Millionaire Recruiter Program is launching in January and is already set to be one of our highlights.

There are many people that also want to open up their own recruiting agency but don’t know where to start and how to really get it going. I’m very much looking forward to bringing forth a program that has a very hands-on mentorship approach.

In addition to L&D, we have an incredible recruiting brand, TalentPerch. We not only fill difficult positions quickly, we also help companies build their recruiting departments from scratch. Companies still believe the recruiting function is a turn-on/off function. We show them that’s not the case and it’s not sustainable. However, there are solutions that we can set up that will scale up and scale down. Our goal with these builds is to save as much money and time that will last companies for years to come.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I wanted your readers to know there is always a good time to follow your dreams. As long as you keep that fire inside you, you will always shine past what you thought you were capable of. Network, ask questions, and find your circle of trust.
