Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Ehsan Ali.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I moved to Los Angeles in 2008 and my first job out of training was working for Cedar-Sinai. Although it was a great opportunity and I loved working there, I always knew I wanted to have a unique practice where I would be able to provide concierge medical care. Everyone told me not to do it, but I had this fire inside me and I had to at least attempt it. I decided to leave Cedars and opened up my practice, and I was the only doctor in the greater Los Angeles area providing this very unique model. Business was booming from day one, and here I am several years later. I’m very happy I decided on this.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle I will say is in the beginning I didn’t have a constant flow of patients and needed to hustle to get my name out there in the community. I worked endless hours and made myself available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which was the biggest thing differentiating me from any other doctor. If someone called at 1 am, I would get up out of bed and go see them. If I had a schedule of patients from 6 am-10 pm, I would be seeing patients that entire time. I sacrificed time away from my wife and kids, which was hard, and my wife wasn’t always so understanding. But, if I wanted to succeed and get my name out there, I knew I had to do this. I worked very, very, very hard for 2-3 years then finally started to slow down a bit.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Beverly Hills Concierge Doctor?
I am a primary care doctor specializing in Internal Medicine. I see patients ages 14 and up. As a primary care doctor, I see pretty much everything A-Z, and then when needed, refer to a specialist. Traditional doctor’s offices are only open M-F, 8-5. There is usually a wait of several weeks to get an appointment, and then once at the appointment patients typically wait 30-60 minutes to get seen.
At my practice, we guarantee same-day visits by appointment or walk-in. No one ever waits more than 5-10 minutes. We also will make home visits and provide our cell phone numbers to patients, making it very easy to communicate with us. The office is open till 10 pm. As their doctor, I am reachable within minutes. It is a true luxury. I will also travel with patients when needed. I like to stay atop of all innovative treatments and procedures, too.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I don’t have any specific apps/books/podcasts, but I do like to follow various philanthropic groups/people because it motivates me to be a better person and go out of my way to help others. I want to be able to make a difference in people’s lives, and know that I have positively impacted people. We all get caught up with materialistic or meaningless things. At the end of the day, I want to be known as someone who has made a difference.
