Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Feige & Matias Gonzalez.
Hi Jazmin and Matias, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We are both Industrial Designers from Argentina based between Buenos Aires and Milan (IT).
We’ve been working in the industry for around ten years.
We have met at University and worked in some projects together since then.
If you see a Bougie Woogie piece, you know it’s ours. The identity that we built is our most precious treasure.
Our obsession is to create a “moment” when you come across one of our designs while using them with a purpose.
In the end, we are really attached to the FUNCTION side of design with a creative input.
We search what’s called a “problematic” to solve and we solve it with our designs. Books fall if you don’t hold them? We design bookends.
We are always thinking on how to create pieces with materials that are rarely found in other parts of the world rather than Argentina and we enjoy working with local suppliers that have that craftsmanship that we cherish so much and really makes all the process very special.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
During 2020, we created the design studio to bring joy to the interiors and to create that safe space that was nowhere to be found in the “outside world”.
So, because everyone was literally all the time inside their homes, the boom of interior design was evident.
Now, we find that after the pandemic, we are struggling to understand what’s the importance of the interiors for our clients because, now, they are more about what’s happening OUTSIDE after everything they went through.
Social media is also something that’s starting to frustrate us as the IG algorithm is not helping small businesses like ours and the communication with our clients is ultra-reduced.
Right now, we are going through a quiet phase. We’re thinking about new products to launch in 2023 and to change the way we sell.
We’ve been impressed with Bougie Woogie Design Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We work primarily with wood from Argentina, our country of origin.
We are into the anti-design era of Italian design from the 80s but with a 2022 twist of technology and modern shapes.
Our pieces are made to have fun with the interior design of our client’s homes.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The original designs we create is what sets us apart. We’re really recognizable. We have an identity.
