Today we’d like to introduce you to Allon Avgi.
Hi Allon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Five years ago, I started my real estate career while I was a college student! I always wanted to be a successful businessman and avoid getting a full-time job so I did everything in my power to just “figure it out”. In between e-commerce projects and social media marketing, I found a great opportunity to buy an undervalued home and that was the beginning of my real estate journey. After successfully completing 1 project, I knew I would become unstoppable and the scaling began. Today I have a 24-person staff, over 60 properties and roughly 400 units in both commercial and residential real estate.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth is the last word I would use to describe my journey. Just like every scaling company, the bumps are brutal and they only get bigger as the operation gets bigger. Just making it by with cash on hand was a big struggle over the years. Low balances and high costs to bring projects to the finish line always kept me thinking like a founder and I appreciate that about the journey. Municipalities have also never been easy to work but it’s a big part of the process. The biggest hurdle I’ve had to cross was dealing with a massive fire at one of our properties. The loss of a roof over the head of our tenants was the biggest challenge because I was not about to let anyone go a night without a roof over their heads.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about AVGI?
We buy undervalued properties in multiple markets across the country and reposition them. Long story short, we buy properties to cash flow long term and benefit our investors, tenants, the community and our company!
