Exploring Life & Business with Ronit Menashe & Vida Delrahim of WeNatal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronit Menashe & Vida Delrahim.

Hi Ronit & Vida, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
WeNatal was born from our own personal journey with pregnancy loss in early 2020. The two of us connected on so many life milestones that happen in your twenties—falling in love, getting promoted, getting pregnant, and unfortunately, going through miscarriages a week apart.

After we experienced loss, we felt helpless and guilty and tried to figure out what we could have done differently. Our doctors told us that miscarriages are common at our age and to “just keep trying.”

We were not satisfied with that response. We quickly dug into the research which led us to tons of scientific evidence proving there was actually a lot we could do to improve our odds of a healthy pregnancy and healthy child. The real Aha! moment came when we realized we were completely oblivious to our husband’s health and that 50% of pregnancy loss is a result of sperm quality. We further learned that sperm quality is easy to improve using high-dose antioxidants.

Why isn’t anyone talking about this?
Why is the burden of fertility predominately on women?
Why aren’t there prenatal supplements for men if research shows a good quality formula could improve sperm quality?

We had to do something about it and decided to launch a mens prenatal. After we learned that there was a huge gap in the women’s prenatal space – we decided to innovate the women’s prenatal as well.

That is how WeNatal was born!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Startup life has been exciting and eye-opening! We are learning so much every day and there are always ups and downs, learnings and challenges but we love going through it together. We are so grateful to be able to be best friends and co-founders and share our personal story to help couples. Truly a life mission that we knew we couldn’t ignore.

We also appreciate every single entrepreneur out there because we know firsthand it’s not easy! Anytime we meet a founder giving our samples at Erewhon, we always buy their products because we know that so much work has gone into creating the product and getting it to retail.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about WeNatal?
WeNatal.com is a prenatal supplement company for women AND men. We’re on a mission to reimagine the gender paradigms around fertility and pregnancy to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of couples and their future children. WeNatal is here to shift prenatal care from woman-centered to a couples-centered—from Me to We.

WeNatal is deeply rooted in the belief that building a family should be a team effort. Our goal is to provide both men AND women with the tools, education and motivation to take charge of their health and break down the stigma of pregnancy challenges.

We are female-founded and led and backed by industry-leading Functional Medicine doctors, nutritionists, and fertility experts, including Dr. Mark Hyman and Kelly LeVeque.

While the female prenatal market is saturated, the majority of prenatal supplements overpromise and underdeliver. We started WeNatal with the goal of helping couples navigate the increasingly confusing, stressful world of preconception with a clean, trusted product backed by clinical research at an accessible price.

Unlike most other prenatal on the market, WeNatal is made 100% clean, without synthetic dyes, fillers, preservatives, or artificial ingredients. It was formulated with nutrients that others leave out, such as choline, with functional doses in the most bioavailable forms in only 3 capsules per day.

One thing that was very important to us was sustainability. When we were pregnant, we were throwing out plastic packets every day from the prenatal we were taking. We knew we had to reinvent the way we delivered this product and that started with the jar! We found that we always hid our supplements in the cabinet and then would forget to take them. Our beautiful glass jars are intended to stay on your counter to make sure they are always top of mind. Every month you get a packet (made from recycled materials) with your supplements so you can refill your jar. We wanted to ensure we are leaving behind a better planet for the healthy little humans we help bring into this world!

WeNatal is also the only supplement on the market with a holistic approach by supporting the mind and body with simple and effective tools, like the WeNatal Journal that promotes a positive mind space for couples trying to grow their family and manifests the family of their dreams. Our mission is to impact the health of couples and their future children to support the well-being of every growing family and future generations.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
We are so fortunate to have so many amazing mentors guide us through this journey! Something that was crucial for us was finding people that inspired us shared the same work ethic and integrity and cared about our mission. It was important to us to find mentors that have impressive resumes and skill sets that we were not experts in, so they can be a resource in spaces we are not well versed. But it was equally important to find great people who care about the cause, care about people and genuinely believe in us to help make us stronger.

The best advice in finding mentors and networking is to give before you expect to receive anything from anyone. We love to help others, support other businesses in any way we can. We ALWAYS pay it forward and try to mentor as many people out there. The universe has its own way, when you give, you always get back so much more than anything you could have expected.
