Check Out Alena Zubakina’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alena Zubakina.

Hi Alena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a fashion model born in snowy Siberia but living in sunny Los Angeles at this moment. My career started in Japan 15 years ago. Right away, I got super busy with work and great clients. One of my first jobs was a cover and fashion story for one of the biggest Japanese magazines. I didn’t even know how to pose properly in front of the camera but it did not stop me falling in love with the process… After Japan, I couldn’t live without it anymore. Then I worked in Milan, New York, Paris, London and of course, Los Angeles.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is smooth in this world 🙂 Any road has ups and downs. The biggest struggle until now is to be far away from my family. I miss them a lot. But trying to see and spend time with them as much as I can.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an international fashion model with a lot of experience in markets all over the world. I have come  a long way from there I started to where I am right now. I can definitely call myself a pro 🙂 There are clients like Prada, Versace, Louise Vuitton, Oscar de la renta, Celine, Miu Miu, Balenciaga, L”Oreal, Vogue, ELLE magazine and many more in my client list. And I am always happy to share my knowledge with girls who just started.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Oh yes… Losing self-esteem is a very important topic in this industry. Every girl starts comparing herself with others, especially with models who are working much more.

I always say to girls if a client didn’t choose you, it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you. They are just looking for a different type of look. Nothing personal.
