Inspiring Conversations with Treavion Davenport of Trea Day

Today we’d like to introduce you to Treavion Davenport.

Hi Treavion, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my start in the PR business at the age of 19 years old. I was a student at Michigan State University on a full-ride scholarship at that time. One of my best friends was living in Hollywood at that time and she convinced me to leave school to pursue our dream and help her become a star. With one suitcase and $25 to my name, I moved to Hollywood. Within two weeks, I found myself on the set of a Bobby Brown music video. I realized pretty quickly that I had no interest in front of the camera. However, I was completely blown away by a young lady who I observed commanding the room. I later found out that she was the publicist. I did my research and discovered that PR/Publicity was perfect for me and I can honestly say that I discovered my major definite purpose in life as a result of that experience and taking a chance. Everything else fell into place. I did help my friend become a famous Grammy-nominated recording artist and TV producer and have gone on to propel the careers of many of the country’s top entertainers, authors, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think most successful people would have to acknowledge that challenges, obstacles, and sometimes even worst, impact us along our journey. It really just goes with the territory. The key is to maintain your focus and to embrace your failures because failure is just as important an ingredient to succeed as perseverance, clarity, and determination. I’ve experienced the challenge of data breaches, physical struggles, and really trying to balance being an entrepreneur, a mom, a wife and just finding time to nurture myself. But at the end of the day, understanding my purpose has always served as a beacon for me to find my way back to where I’m supposed to be and the work that I am supposed to do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Trea Day LLC?
For nearly the past two decades, I have ideated and orchestrated the messaging for PR clients ranging from authors, philanthropists, and creatives to business leaders and hip hop artists including Gucci Mane, Charli Baltimore, Bre Z, Trae Tha Truth, Kurupt, and Kash Doll. Communicating to the world the attributes, uniqueness, and nuances of a brand and/or talent requires a mastery of language and storytelling. My innate gifts in this area have afforded me a lucrative and longstanding career. It also made for a natural transition into writing books and film production.

I’m most proud that through the operation of my own businesses, I have been successful at maintaining a solvent and consistent livelihood and lifestyle that has sustained me and my five sons and has allowed me to travel the world, employ and impact my team, and be a mentor to hundreds of professionals in the PR and Film and Television production industry.

My brands have been curated to represent who I am as a person-down to earth, approachable, dependable and consistent, and resourceful.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have many favorite childhood memories but my fondest center around spending quality time with my siblings – Lezli, Saamon, and Lamarr. We had a wonderful childhood growing up in and around Detroit. Being raised with the “Motor City” as the backdrop helped us develop a thick skin and an invaluable roll up your sleeves, grind mentality. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but my mother Rayne Rose instilled in us NOTHING but self-love, and my father Gary Phillips reinforced the importance of self-sufficiency and independence as a woman, he also taught me how to fish for myself (literally). Growing up surrounded by the Great Lakes of Michigan made for the perfect training ground!
