Life & Work with Li Li Nicols

Today we’d like to introduce you to Li Li Nicols.

Hi Li Li, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, I’m originally from New Orleans. I moved to Atlanta because of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In 2011 I attended Savannah State where I embraced my passion for music. I began a music blog site that created a buzz throughout the city which got me attention from the Hype Magazine, where I worked for some time. I leverage my connection to the magazine to network throughout Atlanta as an artist. In 2016 I moved to Los Angeles where I began working with the public relations firm FYI and started performing as a rapper. I connected with my Atlanta friends in 2020 to release the single Black Diemen, a political statement targeting police brutality and my fan base has grown since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am grateful to have survived Hurricane Katrina growing up, this brought me closer to my family and made me understand the true value of family.

As a woman, I am proud to have overcome trials and tribulations like domestic violence, depression, poverty, and sexual assault. I express myself through my music and tell these stories hoping to positively impact others who’s experienced these struggles.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a rapper, writer, and entrepreneur. I have written and been published on several independent websites including my own personal sites. I have created and started several businesses from Freelance Public Relations to Real Estate. I am most proud of the fact that I own everything I have put out, and I’ve made a name for myself as a boss at such a young age. People who have spent their entire lives in the entertainment industry recognize and respect as an upcoming boss figure, seeing that I am so much more than just music and sex appeal.

What’s next?
I am planning to open my first recording studio in the near future.
