Hi Karen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Looking back as to how my journey began, it’s now obvious that there are two things that I was made for: faith and business. From an early age, my mother and grandmother instilled in us the importance of faith and helping others. On both a personal and professional level, my faith has played a pivotal role in pushing me beyond my limits to reach new goals and heights in my career. Prior to working in real estate and starting my business, I worked in Media holding roles in sales and marketing. My teams took part in helping market and sell some of the biggest brands’ and products for close to a decade. Although each role brought me a level of purpose, joy and fulfillment, one theme was consistent; my creativity and work were taking part in building other brands and their wealth, security and freedom. Though I loved that season of my life, I laid it down to pursue a bigger purpose and calling.
When I transitioned from my career in Media and began as an entrepreneur in 2020, my biggest intention and drive was to create a business that would bring me and others a life of wealth, security and freedom that is our own. From that conviction, The Barrios Co. was created with the core idea that the newest industry tools, modern marketing solutions, and most importantly an honest-quality agency can make all the difference in a real estate transaction and in the industry. There is no greater joy than to serve and help my clients achieve their goals through real estate.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the world of real estate, the unexpected is part of the process and even the wealthiest buyers or sellers can’t escape the delays, setbacks and unforeseen news which ultimately cause frustration, stress and disappointment. Which is why having the right representation matters, and having the confidence of my clients during a challenging situation is crucial and key to a successful close. At the end of the day, all I can control is how well-prepared, solution-driven and my ability to be fully present for my client’s every need and concern during the process. No transaction is perfect, but hearing their confidence in our relationship and my expertise every step of the way – means the world to me!

The Barrios Co. Real Estate (powered by eXp Realty) is a boutique real estate agency I lead in Pine Mountain Club, CA. The Barrios Co. began its great adventure in January 2021 – since then, we’ve sold over $5.9 million in real estate, helped over 13 families with their real estate goals, and continue growing by trusted referrals, relationships and our expertise.
I believe in the power of relationships and work hard to understand my clients and tailor each experience to their individual needs. My team takes pride in providing a luxury real estate experience regardless of price point for buyers and sellers by bringing them the newest in industry tools, modern marketing solutions and honest-quality agency making their transaction run smoothly from start to finish.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned with starting and building my business (The Barrios Co. Real Estate) is that there is a season and a time for everything.
