Rising Stars: Meet Deniseea Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deniseea Taylor.

Deniseea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in Inglewood, I can remember being completely obsessed with design and fashion. I would stay in my room and try on different outfits etc., sew, draw alll that. I had no clue that design would lead to cocktails and history. If I fast forward a bit my mom would entertain a lot for holidays and the weekend. I loved the aspect of the party and everyone getting together. Once I moved to NYC, I began to do the same entertaining in my garden apt in Harlem. By the time I got to New Orleans, I had experience behind the bar and was ready to expand my events business. Covid bitch slapped me and my plans and that’s when I came up with the bottles mixers and IG classes as well. The mixers are important because they are always designed and referencing black artists or some form of my culture. I wanted a product that would better tell/share my culture while having a cocktail. The IG classes on black history came about as a pairing element for all my guests/followers.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road is not smooth as I am paving a new way. Beyond design and product development, my work involves a lot of black history. To be honest reading, researching and reliving painful history is the biggest struggle as of now.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most known for my bottled mixers and my IG history lessons. I believe the storytelling sets me apart from others because I’ve found a way to keep my guests entertained & learning while responsibly drinking.

What matters most to you?
Keeping my culture and my history alive. Normalizing black excellence and sharing the history that wasn’t put in our books.
