Daily Inspiration: Meet Multiszn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Multiszn.

Hi Multiszn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well, I’m 17 years old and I’m a rap/R&B artist from Seattle, WA. The first time I ever recorded a song was back in 2017. I was 13 or 14 at the time and wanted to try something new with some friends. At the time, it was nothing more than a fun activity to do with my friends, but I quickly grew fascinated with music production and started spending more and more time making songs in my own time. After about a year of casually learning more about making music through research and experimentation, in August of 2018 I decided I loved making music so much that I wanted to start taking it seriously. The rest of 2018 through 2019, I spent consistently making and releasing new music. Through this time, I was able to immensely improve my singing and songwriting ability. These were the beginning stages of crafting my sound that people love today.

By the very end of 2019, I had completely leveled up. My songs were starting to sound catchy and well thought out. At that point though, they still sounded very raw, which some may have seen as a good thing, but many (including myself) saw as a point of improvement. As we all know, in March of 2020 we were unexpectedly hit with the COVID-19 pandemic and everything was shut down. That left me with nothing to do but further develop my sound as an artist and fall even more in love with my craft. In April, I began making Tiktok videos in attempts to grow my fanbase. This was a huge success. By June, I had amassed over 80k followers on Tiktok as well as millions of views and likes. Through the first 2/3 of 2020, my song quality gradually increased until it finally reached the professional sound I had been working so hard to achieve. Music-wise, everything was starting to click.

Around this time, I signed my first management deal. Unfortunately, the deal was terminated rather quickly due to disagreements between my management and I. Nevertheless, now that I was happy with how my music sounded I was more determined than ever to create and release music. Up until that point in the year (October), I had only released six songs. I finished out the rest of the year releasing six more songs, which was a very proud moment for me. Now that I felt confident with my music, I went into 2021 with a new priority: to blow up. Through 2021 I have learned so much about music marketing and how to promote myself, as well as further polished my sound as an Artist. I have had great success compared to any other year, with all of my releases this year gaining 100k+ streams each. I have a long ways to go and a lot to learn in this industry, but I also know that I am the most determined and consistent person I know, and slowly but surely, I will grow into the artist I’ve always dreamed of being.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a long journey and rough one, but I’m here for it. I have endured countless struggles throughout my career, but I would say one of my biggest has been being accepted. When you decide to pursue something like being an artist, it is generally seen as a very risky and unstable career. You don’t become successful with it through the education system so it is a very untraditional route to take. My career choice has affected my relationships with some family members which I fear will never be the same. I’ve had to make a lot of life-changing decisions in this past year that have upset people in order to elevate my career and well-being. In the end, you are the only one that truly knows yourself well enough to be making decisions on how your life should go. I had to learn that the hard way but eventually gained the courage to do what I had to do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m just a young artist trying to make it in the music industry. I’ve put myself in the position to be able to dedicate every day of my life to furthering myself and my career. I am most proud of how far I’ve come musically. I’ve spent countless time over the past four years crafting my sound, and I’m so versatile. I feel that I make some of the best music of all the underground artists right now. What sets me apart from most other artists is that I started so early on. I’m only 17 years old, and I have over four years of experience in the industry. Each of those years was spent learning extremely valuable lessons and skills that most artists my age just don’t have yet. My determination is like no other and I won’t stop even after I’ve made it.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Due to just having so much time to work on myself throughout this pandemic, I’ve learned so many lessons and grown so much as a person. The biggest habit I followed and piece of advice that I can give is this: strive to grow and become more than you are every opportunity that you get. During the pandemic, I spent as much time and energy as I could improving myself and I came out the other side a different person than when I started. I take my life very seriously and it’s a mindset I had to engrain in myself. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for a lot of other people I know. A lot of people cruise through life on auto-pilot and don’t make the most of their situation. I make it a point to be present with myself and conscious of every decision I make. This way, I am constantly changing for the better.
